Lighting

It is all Lacie’s Fault. Part 3.

Recently, I did a post about a small pile of lights which Lacie, the realtor who sold me the Cross House, left on the back porch of the house.

She emailed: Was I interested?

Oh, baby, yes.

The fixtures are from Moe’s Fiesta line, a “response to the refreshing trend toward vivid colors in fashionable home decorating.”

The shades comprise thick strips of red, green, and blue plastic. The effect when lighted is amazing. Wow. And oh-so-60s, and so very mod!

  1. How beautiful these lights are! They are not my taste. but beautiful design is beautiful design. And you get to play with these toys every day, and make money to boot!! You sure know how to be semi retired in style. And then you teach all of your Cross House followers ! ! We all appreciate your sharing your lifetime of knowledge with us. As a young boy could you have imagined what beautiful & shiny toys you’d have and such a magnificent house project as this time in your life?

      • I said semi retired. That’s hopefully when we get to pick and choose what we will spend our time and money on. I certainly hope your time and energy are better spent doing what you do now than back in New York. After all, you now have all of us, your loyal followers, to teach and share all of your latest loves and perils with. And restoring works of arts for the lucky homeowners who purchase them to enjoy day after day, after day, after day. You are an artist and historian. To me that is never work!

        • Alas! I am not even semi!

I spend every morning, 7 days a week, on my lighting business. Then I run off to the Cross House for the afternoon, then back to work on my lights every evening, 7 days a week, and often until midnight. Or later.

Before buying the Cross House, I was, save the car payment, debt free.

Not any more! Buying the Cross House has actually guaranteed that I can never retire.

And I am OK with this, because I am enjoying myself a LOT more now than before the Cross House!
