While Rome Burns…
…I have a tiny bit of good news!
So, y’all remember about the new Pete portrait in the 1894 parlor?
But the hanging cord thingy looked, umm, undersized. It is the fourth one in the room, and I have never been happy with them. Too skimpy.
I have been searching for beefier versions and at last came across something better.
And I ordered more!
The skimpy versions should look OK in the second-floor rooms.
So, while Rome burns, rest assured that, in a small town in Kansas, something is just a tiny bit better.

I like them both! But besides the wonderful old frames those pictures hangers are just the icing on the cake!
It’s hard to see why the different cords made a difference– alas I was unable to tell in the photo.
But then again — when viewed on iPad blowing up pic did show the difference… yes Pete is happier!
Yes in a small town in KS things are tiny bit better…

Thanks, Vicki!
Vicki, thank you for telling about Swan. So many lovely creative things. Really loved their photo album. WOW!
Swan is a fantastic site! So many pretty things there! I have too many ideas now!
I do like Pete, quite a lot.
Being able to complete the details with getting mired down in them is a true gift. I envy you this almost as much as I envy your stained glass windows, LOL…
The new hanger cord and tassel looks just like the ones we had on our picture moldings soaring up to 12 foot ceilings. Mother would send me off to walk over to the local antique store to pick up her ordered by phone picture cord every time she needed another one. We always had ones in gold color. It seemed like another one was needed everyday when we first moved in the house when I was in the third grade. All the neighborhood had the same cords and tassels in gold. I know because I made it my business to visit and explore in every house on my street as I always loved old houses. My Mother always said Tura knows what everyone in the neighborhood is having for dinner. I engaged in various ways with all the young and especially the old neighbors from paid services to just let me help you ways. It was a fun time for me.
Your new one is the cats meow! But the wall design pattern and color is the lions roar! WOW! Beauty everywhere!!
And……thank goodness things have changed, but not that much as I know what is going on in the Cross House!! HA! I love your blog……..thanks so much for every post!
Struggling with diabolical temptation to make trite comment about being well-, ah, you know. Maybe less blatant in French: Je suis content de savoir que le maire est bien monté! C’est à dire, dans votre parloir!
Hahaha witty, John.
