A Bright Light On The Horizon
This is a political post. If interested, please scroll down.
For weeks now I have watched, horror struck, as the Republican party has done everything possible to overturn the November election.
And while Trump and Republicans have been screaming about election fraud, a staggering 59 court cases brought by Trump and Republicans have been dismissed because…and this is the vital part…not once did they provide any evidence to back up their allegations.
ZERO evidence to support their allegations.
ZERO evidence to support their allegations.
ZERO evidence to support their allegations.
And today, the Electoral College certified the vote.
After four painful years watching my country fall apart, our global standing plummet, and one atrocity after another being inflicted upon the vulnerable, I look forward to a new dawn.
I look forward to a return of intelligence, decency, honesty, empathy, kindness, and generosity.

AMEN!
Ross, I so want to believe that new dawn is coming… but with the trump cultists being so much on the warpath at this point, I have to say I’m still concerned. They truly have turned trump into the second coming of Jesus, and fanaticism of that nature is hard to overcome. I’d love to think he’ll lose all relevance and “disappear like a miracle!” but that’s just as likely as the disappearance of Covid with the way he’s handled it.
Beth, I wholly share your concerns.
And…a bright new light is on the horizon.
BIG hug!
Amen, Ross!! As an optimist, I’m hoping for the best. Thank you for helping me stay sane during this unusual year! Love your house, opinions, and drive! I may be a Ross groupie 🙂
Yes. These dark four years of alternative reality and optional truth have wearied me. I kept feeling like the Dark Forces of Chaos and Anarchy were waging war on our Better Angels. (Did Trump’s previous scalp reduction surgery actually remove the Mark of the Beast?!) But the clouds of deception and equivocation are parting and The Light is returning to her people.
Hear, hear! I second that emotion! Yay! So happy!
And thank you Ross for all you do and all you give.
i can not understand why people supported this trump tantrum. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting to get different results. 59 lawsuits…insanity!
After 4 long years, I am still trying to hold on to hope… even though Trump may not be President after January 20, I don’t know how soon the damage he did can be repaired, if ever. So much hatred…and ignorance. I never realized how many people I live among were harboring such evil inside themselves, and now that they have been exposed, I don’t see how we can ever go back to the way things were. It’s like a Stephen King movie where a large percentage of your family and neighbors turn out to be vampires, sort of like Salem’s Lot on a national scale. The worst part is that they can’t even see that they have these issues, or that there is anything wrong with them, as long as they go to church on Sunday and vote Republican. I know that we are still a majority, but only by a slim margin…and that scares the hell out of me. Joe and Kamala have such a hard road coming up; not only must they confront the usual challenges that face the nation’s leaders, but they must deal with half of a congress and a nation that is seething with hatred and outrage because their hero has been defeated. I know that they will give it everything they have, and I hope that in time, “the other half” will see that they have been deceived and that the Democrats love this country and only want what is best for everyone, not just the elite. I didn’t mean to write a book here, I am just so full of concern for our nation… I have two young grandchildren and I worry about their future. Living in the rural Midwest among so many Trump supporters (our county voted 67% for Trump, even though nearly 60% of voters are registered as Democrats), it’s hard not to feel isolated at times. I am very grateful to be a small part of the Cross House “community” here; it helps to know that there are so many others out there who understand how I feel about things.
I have never prayed so hard for America’s democracy as I have in 2020.
In the Bible it says to let God be our vindicator. And He has been.
The disgust and disappointment I feel for the Republicans is profound. Republicans like Senator McCain are sadly missing from our present Republican party’s DNA. Following Trump is like going down with the Titanic. I hope they sink quickly.
I never realized how much white supremacy, misogyny and hatred filled a large portion of the American people until the Republicans lowered their masks over the past 4 years to show us their true colors. It amazes me who “we the people” vote into the House and Senate. How easily we are fooled.
Thank God that intelligence, decency, and true service to America won out in 2020. At least in the White House.
I think this is all amazing and awesome, but it is not necessarily a time to be complacent. The Democratic party has had it relatively easy in selecting a candidate this time, Trump gave them basically every opportunity this year to demonstrate how unfit he was for a second term. But going forward, another character like Trump can come along if the party does not own up to the mistakes and blunders it committed recently, and come up with a better mandate. “Better than trump” is good for now, but will not be good forever.
Hi, JP!
1) I don’t know a single Democrat who has plans to become complacent!
2) You stated that the Democratic party had a relatively easy experience in selecting a candidate this year. It did? I mean, there were 24 candidates! All slugging it out! And my #1 favorite didn’t win! The whole process seemed tortuous to me!
3) I’m confused. What mistakes and blunders did the Democratic party recently commit?
4) I don’t recall any of the 24 candidates having a campaign slogan of “Better Than Trump”.
5) To me, it’s simple. Voters will have two choices in all future elections:
VOTE DEMOCRAT. This is the party which has worked hard for many decades to improve the lives of most people. I’ve posted about their many accomplishments several times. It’s an impressive list, and a list which makes me proud to be a Democrat.
VOTE REPUBLICAN. Save lowering taxes for the super-rich, I can’t think of a single thing the party has done to help people. Not a single thing. I’ve even asked Republicans about this over and over and no Republican has responded in over two years.
In short, the Democratic party helps people. The Republican party actually harms people. Republicans in Congress have tried to destroy health care for over 20 million Americans. They’ve now gutted regulations protecting our air and water. They’ve now gutted regulations protecting endangered species. They’ve been trying to destroy Social Security since its inception. They also want to destroy Medicaid and Medicare, and meals-on-wheels. The new Postmaster General has actively damaged the Post Office. The party has stolen children and locked them in cages. The party has ruined our global standing, and damaged our once good relationships with long-term allies.
I can go on and on and on.
So, one can vote for a party which has a proven track record of helping the lives of all Americans, or vote for a party which is venal and cruel.
These choices have nothing to do with Trump.
