Cody Scores Again. Bigly!
Yesterday, I received an email from Cody. It was marked EMERGENCY!
Golly.
It developed that he was in an antique store. He had found something.
I scrolled down to the image.
And gasped.

I can hear you, too, gasping!
This is an 1890s gas/electric pendant intended for outdoors or an entry hall. It is missing the two side shades but these will not be hard to find. They were likely teardrop style.
For years, I have been looking for a pendant just like this for the porte-cochère of the Cross House.
And now, thanks to Cody, I will soon have one!

OMG, I completely agree. Cody will be such an asset to the Cross House property. I have no idea how he finds such great things, but I absolutely admire his taste and knowledge of what is appropriate. I can’t wait to visit again late in the fall and meet him in person. Very nicely done Cody and contgrats to Ross for a terrific find.
It’s been converted to all-electric though, by the looks of it, which is a bit of a pity.
If it wasn’t drilled out for electric, the large center cylinder wouldn’t light up. It would look silly to not have it lit with the two side shades. If Ross had designs on running gas to it, it would be another story, but I don’t think that’s in the cards.
It would be quite neat to restore gas functionality to it, but the gas key is far beyond that point. Perhaps one of those dancing flame bulbs would be an appropriate substitute?
Trust me, I rounded the corner into the booth and gasped quite loudly myself when I saw it hanging in front of me. These style pendants are top tier hard to find. To find one “in the wild” is almost unheard of.
Not mentioned was that the price was just as amazing as the piece itself!

Oh my gosh that is just the cutest thing! I love the swirled shade and tear drops on either side will just be the cats meow!! ( and you know how much we love our cats!)
