A LIMPY UPDATE

When I got up this morning, I was surprised to find that Limpy’s box on the deck was empty.

I looked around, and saw that he had dragged himself into the tall grasses. As I approached, I also realized that he had, ahh, done his morning business nearby.

This is what I get for waking late.

Rather than pick up LImpy and bring him back to the deck for breakfast, I brought his food to him amidst the tall grasses. He seemed pleased.

I left the house around 11AM, after checking that Limpy was OK, and returned at 5PM.

Limpy had not returned to his box, and nor was he visible in the grasses. No worry; I figured he had moved a bit into the taller grasses. But…no. It was at this point I grew a little worried.

Wandering the yard, I looked and looked and no Limpy. I looked some more. And more.

My worry grew acute, as cats…ahh…wander off to die.

I shifted my search to obscure corners and dark spaces. No Limpy.

Well, where the fuck was he?

I resumed walking though the yard, in a kind of systematic line-by-line approach which discovered Titanic. But, no Limpy. Really, I grew not only more worried but baffled. How could cat unable to walk just, you know, wander off?

All my other cats knew something was amiss as they began warily following me through the grasses, and circling nearby. None though approached me.

And then…

    In the grasses
    if a Limpy doth stray,
may he be seeked not lost
    by Ross’s limpid gaze.
