Never Mind

In my previous post I detailed about the small library door, which was originally the basement door. It was caked with paint. Stripper quickly dispatched the upper layers but then hit an impervious white layer. Dreaded milk paint? I left the stripper on, and went away for two days. Upon returning today…

 

…the white paint scraped off easily. Well, Ross is silly! Under, was a coat of gray, yellow, and then…ta-da!!!!…the expected original shellac. So, regarding all the fuss…

    Wow, you SO lucked out!

    Many moons ago I picked up a painted Hoosier for $50. I took it apart and began stripping it, only to discover that the paint was next to impossible to remove. I had all the pieces on sawhorses in my driveway for nearly a MONTH, stripping, stripping, stripping. It was a nightmare.

    I’m really glad you won’t have that problem.

    I love shellac.

    I hope when it comes time to strip my armoire it goes as easily.
