FOYER: Day 11

Yesterday I got the first coat of joint compound applied. It is hard to imagine that, soon-ish, I can paint this wall!!!!!!!!

I stayed late so got to see the rear porch light on! It is an LED bulb with a built-in sensor. It turns on automatically at night, and off when daylight comes around. So, no fumbling for keys in the dark! I LOVE IT! I have been replacing all my porch lights with such bulbs.

Love that porch light. What a convenient safety feature. I assume it is hard wired?
I would love to do something like that but have no wiring outside my kitchen door and my front door is under an east facing porch and you just don’t find outdoor porch lights for mounting under a ceiling, plus there could be no solar sensor that would work under a ceiling on an east facing porch. I haven’t been able to come up with a solution. I have hung a solar lantern from the little overhang over the kitchen door but beyond that I have no solution.
How about a battery-opetated LED light? The remote control can be hidden nearby (example under a sheltered handrail.
Ross: nice view! The Carriage House looks so much better.
Don’t want to change batteries. That’s a step back from having to flip the porch light switch on and off every night or forget and it’s on all day or off all night. The front porch is hard wired and the kitchen door has the solar light. I wanted something automatic like Ross’ porch light. The solar light at the Kitchen door is automatic and no batteries to change. I wanted something equally automatic for the front, like Ross’ dusk to dawn, which I can’t use because it’s a wall light, not a ceiling light.

Such a pretty LED- I’m glad you also appreciate the loveliness of soft white instead of those garish bright ones!
This angle is such a sweet happy view now!
Ross, I know so much is happening, but in my heart I keep imagining you living in the cross house and im so excited for all of the goodness you are going to receive soon. Thank you for always staying positive and for always moving forward. I hope you know that you inspire more of us than you probably realize.
Outdoor light attracts insects and irritates many animals. It should not be on all night. If you do not want to switch the light on and off every time you need it to find your keys or see the steps, a movement sensor might be a solution.
only issue I have with always on at night lights here in vermont is that they attract a HUGE number of spiders which create an enormous mess of webs and droppings
