SQUEE!!!!!!!!

SQUEE!!!!!!!!

Yes, the effect is highly mitigated by the lack of lattice below. That will be next!

But, there is a sweeping balustrade back at the Cross House for the first time in many, many decades! And it sure do sweep!

Thanks to Kenny for painting all the spindles. And thanks for Godsend Eric for helping me today.

It’s really glorious Ross! I look forward to seeing the whole porch when you’re done.Currently needing to replace mine which is falling apart. Not even sure where to start but you inspire me.

The 2015 post mentioned that the extra, unoriginal, limestone plinth was to be removed and relocated to the carriage house porch. Whatever became of that? Obviously, so much has happened with the carriage house porch since then!

      Hi, Brian!

I see you’ve done your homework! Bravo!

The extra, unoriginal, limestone plinth was taken apart by Justin. I have all the stones, and hope to create a new stone plinth for the Carriage House porch.

Glorious! Congrats on this large step closer to completing your vision!

Oh, it looks MARVELOUS. You fixed the rail and then got the spindles mounted and everything installed. But wasn’t it just broken yesterday? It went so FAST! YOU ARE AMAZING!

I am so inspired. I must up my baby step™ game. I am falling way behind. If you can do THAT I should be able to do more than I am.

I need to get more done that I can SEE, but I need some time out for the next 6 weeks as I have a lot of baking and cooking to do and I really want to do it all and not burn out before I get it all done. Whether it will all be successful is another thing as some of these recipes I’ve never made.

There is also work in the kitchen to do. I really want my island finally done enough that I can use it as a baking and prep station.

Then there is “the paperwork”. That is what I am calling my baby steps™ toward dual Italian citizenship. I don’t know when papers will arrive and I must wait for some in order to move on and order more of them. That timeline is out of my control.

But I can control the baking and kitchenwork to some extent.

I’m leaving the garden. We have 4 cooler days coming but after that five that are in the 70s and even one reaching 80. Today I noticed a pumpkin starting to turn color. Still hoping if I leave everything long enough something might ripen before it gets too permanently cold to do anything. The volunteer Beefsteak tomatoes look like they might be starting to get color too. I just need a little bit of orange and I can paper bag them to ripen in the house.

Then I start the winter garden.

I need to dig out some rose roots and make two big holes for the fruit trees that are arriving in January. January is going to come way too fast, I can feel it.

I can’t stop looking at that photo. Even without the lattice is it just beautiful. Of course, if you do the lattice, you are going to have to find somewhere else to put all of that stuff you have stored underneath.

Oh, it’s lovely! 💜 The flow of the sweep provides an inviting, casual nature to the entire foundation. For a busy structure, it has a certain relaxing elegance.🏵
    🎊Cheers to Kenny, Eric, & Ross! 🍾
This particular portion of restoration is truly the stuff of dreams.✨️
