Poison Update

In August of 2023, I got my blood tested for lead. I learned that 3.5 is normal. Anything above 5 is considered a concern.

And mine?

13.4. I abruptly stopped scraping off old lead paint from the Carriage House.

A month later I had another test. The number had dropped to 11.6.

In December, 2023 I learned that my latest test was 9.2.

In short, I was doing the right thing. In, maybe, six or so months my lead level should be normal.

In April 2024: 5.8.

And now? 3.8. Almost normal.

Can y’all join me in a big round of SQUEE!!!!!!!!

15 months and back to normal. That isn’t a baby step™, that is a huge leap!

    Congratulations, that is excellent news.

Moving forward I hope you PPE up not only for paint removal but also for anything else that might be chemical related. With old houses, one never knows. Even not so old houses.

When carpeting had to be removed from a bedroom in my parent’s house I found linoleum underneath. (Then I remembered the house originally had linoleum floors througout.) I told my parents their options were to replace the carpeting or put hardwood over it but they could not remove it as likely it has asbestos in it. (House was built in the 60s.) They put wood over it.

I’ll bet you have been feeling better and better with each passing month. Your latest flurry of activity is proof that those levels have come down and you are feeling healthier and your energy is back.

    Excellent news.

Congrats! I too, had elevated lead levels, both from paint stripping but also from years of working with stained glass ( soldering & lead came ), even though I worked under a kitchen exhaust fan. One can’t be too careful, and it’s good to be tested periodically…
