BEFORE. West wall. Turret bathroom.

AFTER. The medicine cabinet I purchased for the house way back in 2014 is finally installed!

The cabinet cries out for a Kenny polishing!

Plenty of storage.

BEFORE. The SE corner.

AFTER. The door frames are all in. Mostly. I like that I decided to make a contiguous header. I enjoy this process of putting things back together.
Did someone….put stain on all of the medicine cabinet hardware?
I am so itching to clean and polish up all of that hardware and then put some coats of finish on the wood so it shines.
That is such a perfect cabinet for that spot.
(I finished my gate today except for some lattice, one last finishing board and some hardware to lock it. I am so pleased. Perfect ending to the year.)
The hardware is steel. With a light rust.
I plan to replace it.
That medicine cabinet is to die for. You are a lucky man, Mr Ross!
Before spending more money, please consider cleaning the hardware first. Plunk it into an old crockpot, cover with water, and heat on low for 8-12 hours. Any finish and rust should come right off, and then a polish and lacquer coating would make them look just fine, and still very much in keeping with the house’s timeframe.
I wish my bathroom had a cabinet like that. It’s perfect for storing today’s bathroom clutter.
And a very Happy 2025 to you and all the kitties I’m sure the Cat Distribution System will send your way.
How satisfying. Visible evidence of progress toward a useful and beautiful goal. A good metaphor for life well lived.
Wonderful! Lovely to see all the elements coming together.
As if you need another side quest, I’d offer that you could rust blue the metal. Think turn of the century firearms.
It has lots of online how-tos, and would suit it better than a plating.
