A LIMPY UPDATE

I am quite thrilled…teary-eyed, actually…to report that the huge hole in Limpy’s neck has closed up!

This means that the infection (a likely cat bite) has drained, and healing is fully underway.

His entire neck and upper chest are now devoid of fur, and fresh pink skin is much in evidence. Based on experience, this will soon start to fill back in. In a few months (assuming Limpy has not, you know, moved to Florida), he will look like nothing happened.

It is uncanny how cats can self-heal.

But…

…I have previously written about his damaged rear legs. The left leg does not work at all. The right one? This sorta kinda works.

Sorta. Kinda.

But…I noticed the other day that his right leg is swelled up, to like twice the size of the left leg. Is this another infected cat bite?

Oh Lordy, I hope not.

I hope not.

How amiable is Limpy to your administrations? Any chance you can shave the leg or at least part the fur in a methodical manner to check for any punctures or wounds? That sounds like another infection. And since it is his only semi-working back leg it’s more important than usual. If it was an abscess I would think there would be a lump. If it is the entire leg swollen up, that sounds a bit more serious and vet-worthy as opposed to home remedies. I’m not a cat person so not as versed in the issues. I’m a dog person. But I know a swollen leg isn’t good. It sounds like an infection but I don’t know what kind.

Glad to hear Limpy’s neck is healed. Did he lose all his fur due to licking?

Poor Limpy! Is there any chance he can become an indoor cat? It sounds like he’s getting wounded on a pretty regular basis.

Oh the poor thing. Doesn’t need another issue. Or u 2 Ross. Hope it’s nothing serious. 🙂

I hope not either, how much can one sweet little cat take? Maybe a trip to the vet is in order. But so glad his neck is healing.

I would think the antibiotic for his neck abscess would have hindered a new infection elsewhere??? As he has been an indoor cat with you for a couple of weeks recently??? No opportunity to get a new bite recently, right?
You know me now….always gonna be worried about blood clots. Yep, time for a vet trip. Poor old guy.

Am I the only one who is hoping that the right leg is a cat bite and that when all his infections have broken and healed he will take up his bed and walk?
