A Moderne Stunner
My online vintage lighting store.
For many years I had a light in a box in my vast storage vaults.
The circa-1940 Moderne fixture needed a lot of work. The original finish was shot which meant that the whole fixture would have to be taken apart, the components stripped, cleaned and primed, and repainted. Ugh.
Normally, I avoid fixtures requiring so much attention. But this fixture? Well, how could I pass it up? It was pretty remarkable.
Still, it sat on shelf for years.
Then, a few weeks ago, I needed to move the dusty box and, as I was about to put it on its new shelf, I thought: No! Do NOT keep ignoring this potential beauty!
Sigh. So, I hauled the box into my office with the thought that if I just spent a little bit of time on it every day, just a little bit, every day, it would in a few weeks actually get done. And this, certainly, was better than sitting many more years on a shelf.
And this thought proved correct…
