A Patiently Awaiting Parlor

Fourteen spaces in the Cross House have stained-glass. These spaces are either rooms, like the parlor, or small areas like the telephone closet. There are 43 stained-glass windows in total. The last space to be done is the parlor, and its four stained-glass windows will soon be reinstalled. This is the large center transom (shown here upside-down). The wood sash has now been restored, glazed, and primed. Soon….high gloss black paint!

You can see two more parlor windows ready for their final dressing. All this work is part of the 2017 Heritage Trust grant.

I bet you can hardly wait to see those stained glass windows installed. They are going to look amazing in the parlor.

It’s good that you pay attention to the sense in which the stained glass must go. I’d wager that a less attentive homeowner would put some glasses upside down. (And I remember that you corrected several windows which had been installed upside down).

Stained glass windows are such exquisite artistry! 43 unique stained glass creations! I have no knowledge of another home that has the artisanship Of Cross House: unique woodwork, mantles, stained glass (all uniquely and artisticly created), architecture combining wood shingles, limestone, turrets, geometric shaped rooms and in a gargantuan size in square footage! Also modern conveniences for its time! Guttering, gas to electric lighting, and boiler system! Flooring is plain but wall to wall carpeting was the style? Ability to get food from kitchen efficiently and talking tubes also! Laundry chutes and open attic to boot! Stained glass is of such a number I have not seen outside a church! Squares designed home and according to Ross —designed all the stained glass! Remarkable! Love the Lincrusta in the dining room and fine china cabinet. Lovely shelving in hall for crystal and fine china as well as silver cabinet? Cross House is so unique and that is an understatement considering all the elements in entirety!

Meant Squires — Charles Squires not Squares! Siri makes me crazy! Thought I turned off all the Siri nonsense— Apple spying ability & data.

The sashes are smooth. The stained glass windows will look amazing once reinstalled in the Cross House.
Baby steps as patented by Ross.
