A Quickly Moving Mission Beauty

Recently, I posted about a house which was demolished in Kansas City. I managed to get its lighting fixtures out.

To think that this AMAZING house was just smashed to the ground.

And all this, too! ARGH!!!!!!!! But see the Mission-style pendant fixture? There was a chandelier version in the adjacent dining room. Wanna see it now? Scroll down…

…Squee!!!!!!!! It was really dirty but it cleaned up well!

Something which looked bulldozable became a thing of beauty.

The shades appear to be original and feature wheel-cut stars! I listed the picture for sale last night. It sold an hour later. To me, this seemed like the universe thanking me for doing what I could to protect something of beauty. I do so love a happy ending.

That this house was torn down makes my heart hurt. I’m glad that you save the lights at least.

Such a shame about that house. All that beautiful wood detailing. Shame on them. Also glad you got the light – it’s amazing. 🙂

How lazy and shortsighted to tear down that house. I can’t imagine what could have been wrong with it that could not be repaired. But thank goodness you saved that light fixture.
