Before. After.

I purchased this pair of 1930s sconces online. I liked that they retained their original shades. However, after rewiring and installed to photograph, I realized something very odd. See the shade on the right? It doesn’t actually match. The flowers and horizontal lines are all lower. And this made the sconce look crooked. Damn. Well, I could not resell the sconces like this. So, I had to do something I rarely do and put different shades on.

Luckily, I had four 1930s wheel-cut shades. I also realized that the sconces originally held crystals, as revealed by the tell-tale mounting holes!

The shades are quite lovely.

You’ve given them a perfect face lift!! The lighter cut design of the shades will leave a dancing ballet of rainbows dancing on the walls and ceiling. How delightful; they will add a pattern of light at their new home. Job well done, Ross
