CH: Day 81

I am of Scottish descent. My mother was born in Scotland, and my father’s family came from Scotland in the late 19th-century.

As such, I am genetically predisposed to rush into battle. I mean, y’all have seen Braveheart, right?

Yesterday I was…ruefully…vanquished.

Today? I gird up my loins, and proudly stepped into the maelstrom.

My focus was to caulk all the new crown and fill in all the screw holes. On Monday I can sand and paint. I also hope to install the petite crown for the small and large windows.

Does that mean you flip up your kilt and moon before vanquishing your enemies?

I’ve been doing that for decades.

Perhaps more properly in Scots Gaelic “Buaidh no Bàs!

    Victory or death!

I’d say you have been pretty patient then. Rather than rushing in to paint, you have restrained your impetuousness and sanded, set, caulked, treated, and primed before painting. Now that is discipline.

Go back to day 40 and see how far you have come.

Yep! It’s time to gird your loins!

Slap on the kilt, go commando and get up on the scaffolding! Moon those passing by….

Everybody in a 50 mile radius know that Ross is quirky! Hahahaha!

So far has the siding come! the paint on it looks great.

I wonder when that off-white cream paint on the underside of the turret is from? Could that possibly be from before the CH porch was put under/around the turret?

Hi, JP. Yes, the paint pre-dates the circa-1921 porch. The paint may be original.

Well done, Ross! So much progress especially when compared to the first day of restoration of the Carriage House. Is it time to play the bagpipes?

Hi, Ross! I think you have two (2) day 80 posts. This is the first — and the next post is day 80, too.
