Fixtures such as this were used from about 1900 through to the early 1920s, and were normally placed in utility areas of a home, or in simple commercial applications. These fixtures were inexpensive in their day and thus not highly regarded. Consequently, they were casually discarded over the decades. Today, their rarity has hugely inflated their value. As well, their innate simplicity is now much appreciated.
Today, I listed a matched set of three! It’s quite extraordinary having such a matched set. They would look great placed kinda close over a kitchen island, for example. Or in a a row down a long hall.
Porcelain sockets! Porcelain turn-keys!
Porcelain canopies! This type canopy is expressly designed for cloth cords, and are incredibly rare.
My online vintage lighting store.
It is nice to see the original that so many copies have been made of. They look really great! I love the porcelain switch, and the brass (steel?) connecting hardware.
I love the idea of placement of a row of them over a kitchen island!!!
