Eek! Eek! I AM SOOOOOO EXCITED!
This is the west facade of the Cross House, February 22, 2016. There is something shown in the image which was not there yesterday. Indeed, this something has not been there for almost two decades. But it is there now. And my skin tingles with excitement. Can you spot what has been added????????

See the cross-hatched windows?
The cross-hatched windows were destroyed in 1999. And ever since they have been just blank panels of glass…
…until today. Until today. For, today I was able to install the first of three. AND I AM FREAKIN’ OUT WITH EXCITEMENT! In a few days the other cross-hatched sashes will reappear.
I squeal with delight!!!!!!!!!! I think such details make all the difference.

I had a hard time finding it. It must have been late in the day. All the pictures were tilted. I had to turn my computer sideways to see them. Either the wind was blowing very hard or you had a little too much to drink. I’ll guess the latter.
It does look great – when do the other two get installed?

was it vandalism – i can’t imagine Bob destroying the windows or was it the fire. i can imagine the fire dept. smashing them out. i think those diamond pane windows always add so much great detail even though they are pretty useless to look out of but when they were used the most in the Colonial era they were just practical as they used small less expensive pieces of glass. In your era, very Richardsonian
Did you have reproduction sashes built? Where did you have them made?
Thankfully, I do not needed any new sashes for our current home, but I fully expect I’ll need some in the future (darn vinyl window salesmen…).
I have had an incredibly difficult time getting anybody to do custom wood sashes.
These were taken in by the company doing the stained glass, who then farmed the work out to somebody. I never met the somebody, and they took like six months to do them!
