Evil is as Evil Does

This is a political post.

If you are an American citizen, or a person who values decency, you should be stunned and appalled and ANGRY at what is happening.

During JUST the last six weeks, 1,995 children were taken from their migrant parents at the Mexican border. What this number does not reflect is children being torn from parents who arrived at our borders to legally seek asylum.

This is the very definition of cruelty.

This week, it was announced that 450 children and babies would be housed in tents. Tents. In Texas. In the middle of the summer. The heat inside the tents is anticipated to reach over 130 degrees.

This is the very definition of torture.

And all this is how low America has fallen.

Trump is grabbing nursing babies literally from the breasts of mothers. Trump is tearing families apart. The American Academy of Pediatrics has called this “government-sanctioned child abuse.”

My mind explodes at the horror of it all.

To massively compound this affront to decency, Trump has lied about his direct role. Due to ever-increasing national and international protests, Trump did what he always does: he blamed somebody else. In this case he blamed the whole thing on, you guessed it, Democrats.

The Democratic Party has NOTHING to do with children being torn from their parents.

This inhumane policy is direct from the White House, and is being implemented by, you guessed it, Jeff Sessions.

When a reporter asked Trump about the controversy, Trump, of course, lied again:

The reporter is correct: there is NO law demanding the children and babies be torn from their parents. There is but a POLICY, one handed down from Trump.

Nobody who has paid close attention to Trump for many decades will be surprise day any of this.

From Electoral-vote.com:

Trump has a long history of having no concern about behaving in a manner that is not only selfish, but unethical and/or immoral. His current crackdown on undocumented immigrants is not especially different, from where he sits, then the shenanigans he pulled in building and bankrupting his Atlantic City casinos, or seizing land from little old ladies to build a parking lot, or screwing the vendors who supplied him out of payment. All of it is “the strong” using “the weak” in whatever way they wish, because the ends always justifies the means.

It is clear that Trump cares little for human suffering, at least among non-whites. He’s shown that with not only his immigration policy, but also his nonchalance about Puerto Rico, his disdain for the United Nations and its relief missions, and so forth. But he does care about maintaining his hold on power, and the backlash has not been good for him on that front. Religious leaders are blasting him, GOP pooh-bahs are scared witless this could cost them big-time at the ballot box, and even Fox News is wondering if Trump has chosen the right course.

This has happened before. In Nazi Germany.

And now, America and Nazi Germany have something in common.

I’ve been sick to my stomach since the day he took office, and it’s only gotten worse with each passing day. 🙁

    • Ross on June 17, 2018 at 4:22 pm

Yes, Vilya, i know the feeling.

    • Miriam Righter on June 17, 2018 at 5:42 pm

Me too, and my depression continues to get worse.

  2. Dawn Rocco on June 17, 2018 at 2:33 pm

What makes this even worse is people believe his bull about blaming the Democrats! I just can’t wrap my head around how he can be so ignorant and cruel. Trump wants his wall and he is willing to do what ever it takes including taking children away from their parents to force his immigration policy on everyone. He makes me sick as well.

    • Ross on June 17, 2018 at 4:25 pm

      Hi, Dawn!

Trump supporters have proven to be a special kind of stupid.

Republicans have ALL the power in Washington but, when they can’t get stuff done, they and Trump point to Democrats and say: “It’s THIER fault!”

      And Trump supporters believe it.

As they say, stupid is as stupid does.

      • Miriam Righter on June 17, 2018 at 5:43 pm

It is like a cult where people have given up their critical thinking skills, even some of my immediate family. I can hardly speak to them anymore.

        • Mike on June 18, 2018 at 11:47 am

Same here, Miriam. I have not attended a family get-together with my parents present in nearly a year. I refuse to drink the Kool-Aid, and that is unforgivable since, as you all know, Trump is anointed by God to lead this country….excuse me, I just threw up in my mouth.

          • Dawn Rocco on June 18, 2018 at 12:28 pm

Same here! It sure leaves a bad taste in my mouth!!

  3. Dan Goodall-Williams on June 17, 2018 at 2:51 pm

I agree! 45 is so caustic, he’s a cancer. Some say people shouldn’t be coming over illegally. Ok, but we dont need to keep the children from their parents. I too am sick to my stomach with this and all 45 does.

    • Ross on June 17, 2018 at 4:30 pm

Trump lies ALL the time and one of his favorite lies is that Democrats want open borders.

There is not a single Democrat who wants open borders. There is not a single Democratic member of Congress who has ever stated such a thing.

People have been illegally entering America since the beginning but it is only recently, as a direct result of a new Trump policy, that children are being taken away from their parents.

Also, people who are coming to our borders to LEGALLY seek asylum are having THIER kids taken away as well.

      This is just pure evil.

If you read this, you will cry.

  4. Karen Spencer on June 17, 2018 at 4:10 pm

Among all the terrible things this inarticulate, unthinking man has done, separating children from their parents and putting them into a 100+ degree tent city is the most inhumane. I have been very disturbed by this action and I fear that some of these children will die from the heat.

His base is all about the right to life until a baby leaves the womb. Especially brown babies.

The national TV networks are starting to expose his lies. (In addition to CNN and MSNBC of course.)

Vote midterms and 2020! We have a lot of work to do!

    • Ross on June 17, 2018 at 4:32 pm

      Dear Karen,

You wrote: “His base is all about the right to life until a baby leaves the womb. Especially brown babies.”

So true in my experience. So tragically true.

      • Stewart Mclean on June 19, 2018 at 11:23 am

I am uncertain if Trump has stated a belief in the right to life. My opinion is that he doesn’t really cares one way or the other about anyone but his own family and maybe not even them if they don’t agree with him. I do find that the term,”right to life” does not express the issue. As I see it the issue is expressed better by saying giving a woman the right to choose whether she will carry and bear a child that she doesn’t want, regardless of the reason. I have heard, but have no sources to back it up, that there has been a decrease in crime that correlates to the Supreme Court’s decision to allow women the right to choose. It make s sense to me that unwanted and unloved children are more likely to grow into criminals than those who are loved. I think it is as much of a shame that there are women who continue to bear children that they neither want nor love no matter what the reason.

    • Miriam Righter on June 17, 2018 at 5:46 pm

Exactly. That is their mantra. NO ABORTIONS! Once someone is born, they don’t care about them at all. People of color, LGBT, and the disabled are especially in their targets.

    • Gabi on June 18, 2018 at 12:31 pm

His followers drink the Kool-Aid offered by Fox News.

      • Ross on June 18, 2018 at 12:35 pm

And they don’t even know it.

  5. Sandra Lee on June 17, 2018 at 4:21 pm

The images this week & the horrific torture & child abuse of the very young have kept me crying. These measures are destroying the souls of 1900+ children & especially causing permanent damage. I am searching for ways to help beyond SPLO, ACLU and future voting. In Rochester I support United Way which helps the poor & disenfranchised. But these babies & young children are suffering now–along w their poor moms and dads. I’m sickened and feel helpless …..

    • Ross on June 17, 2018 at 4:34 pm

      Big hug, Sandra.

Your response proves that you have a soul.

Anybody who does not respond with horror to what is happening has no soul.

      • Sandra Lee on June 18, 2018 at 6:12 pm

Did you think I had no soul before my post? —you seemed incredulous😱

        • Ross on June 18, 2018 at 8:13 pm

          Sandra! I am confused!

How does my comment read as incredulous?

          • Sandra Lee on June 18, 2018 at 9:48 pm

When I first read it —I glanced & thought you said “you have a soul” not that “it proves you have a soul” Incredulous if you were surprised I wasn’t not soulless—
I was mistaken— pardon mon Frere

    • Miriam Righter on June 17, 2018 at 5:47 pm

I am with you. The damage can not be undone.

  6. glenn on June 17, 2018 at 5:37 pm

Trump can kiss my rosy red socialist Canadian rectum. I’m cancelling my summer travel plans to see the Blue Jays minor league teams in Buffalo and New Hampshire. I’m cancelling my plans to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame, Boldt Castle, the Darwin Martin house and Fallingwater. I’m boycotting as many American products as possible. Sorry, reasonable Americans [which is most of you] but calling Canada an enemy of the U.S.A. is beyond fucking ridiculous.

    • Ross on June 18, 2018 at 12:36 pm

      Hi, Glenn,

I know a number of Canadians, and numerous people in Europe and the UK, and they have all cancelled trips to the US.

      I understand.

      • Karen Spencer on June 18, 2018 at 8:14 pm

I understand too. Canada is a wonderful, progressive, polite, humanitarian country. You are our finest neighbor. Trump is extremely jealous of Trudeau.

        Oh Canada!

  7. Stewart Mclean on June 17, 2018 at 9:05 pm

I HATE POLITICAL POSTS!!!!!!!! unless they come from you. Somehow your arguments look like they are based on reasoning as opposed to forwarding an agenda. Thanks for providing them.

    • Ross on June 18, 2018 at 12:37 pm

      Thank you, Stewart!

  8. Gabi on June 18, 2018 at 7:32 am

Sarah Sanders is a mother and told the very same lies. Blaming us Dems for a law that doesn’t exist. How can she sleep at night? This is so wrong!!

    • Ross on June 18, 2018 at 12:37 pm

It’s easy to sleep at night…if one doesn’t have a soul.

    • Stewart Mclean on June 19, 2018 at 11:48 am

I have trouble seeing any relevance between lying and motherhood, even if the issue being discussed concerns children and families. I could draw the conclusion, but don’t, that you were saying that women who are not mothers are likely to tell such lies. I just can’t see why people use things like their religion, there own personal situation, or any other “part of a group” statement that has nothing to do with an issue unless it is to manipulate others in that group.
      – I perceive our current political climate to be largely due to the idea that Americans select the candidate for whom they vote in elections by choosing the candidate who seems to most support a group to which they belong. Then they ignore everything else, even if those other things are not in, or counter to, their own best interest.
      – On the other hand, I believe that politicians usually act in their personal best interest, either through saying or doing what will get them re-elected, or through more self serving motives.
-The idea that the super-wealthy make better representatives because they need no money has possibly been debunked by the current president, however I see no evidence that his “wealth” is not a Ponzi-like house of cards that would have fallen if he had revealed his true financial situation or even his personal tax returns. I think that Bloomberg’s record of service does make him fit the old concept of the super-wealthy using their knowledge and experience to benefit many, so the concept isn’t dead. Maybe Trump doesn’t have any real assets that aren’t highly leveraged.
      – I suspect that the cards will fall eventually.

  9. Dawn Rocco on June 18, 2018 at 2:17 pm

If you haven’t done so all ready, read the book (How do you kill 11 million people?) by Andy Andrews. It will break your heart and it’s happening again!

    • Sandra Lee on June 18, 2018 at 6:16 pm

You and Andy Andrews are right! A friend yesterday said Trump’s America is like Stalin’s Russia. Under Stalin millions were crushed & murdered literally & physically. Under Trump millions’ souls are crushed & they are murdered psychically, psychologically & physically damaged beyond repair.

  10. Sandra Lee on June 18, 2018 at 2:30 pm

The govt sanctioned torture & abuse of families but most of all the torture of babies & children canno5 be undone. It causes both physical & psychic soul crushing damage. This damage is evidence- based & documented to be virtually un treatable or recoverable.

I am a victim of this soul crushing experience @ 2 that has followed me my whole life like a black abyss— I am 65 — I have never recovered. On top of that 4 concussive brain injuries.

I am not being a cry baby nor woe is me however I feel the pain of these babies & children viscerally— I have been there at the mercy and f those without souls.

    • Dawn Rocco on June 18, 2018 at 6:17 pm

Sandra, I too wish I could reach out and hug you! Maybe you could call a news agency and give them first hand knowledge of what Tramp and congress are doing to these children. Experience is the best teacher. If you can help save these children in a way most of us can not perhaps you can also find some kind of healing! Some things are not capable of getting over but can be used for good. May grace shine through you!

      • Sandra Lee on June 18, 2018 at 6:29 pm

Thanks for sharing! Dawn you are such a treasure! All we can do is pray for all those suffering. I am going to contact SPLO, NAACP, ACLU & any other organizations that can put muscle to this travesty and shame those perpetrating & justifying it. I have healed for the most part in that God uses me to do the work he has given me to do & I always make a difference! Currently making a tremendous difference at the Mayo Clnic. I am going to see what the AZ Mayo Clinic is doing. They always go to humanitarian disasters. We need movie stars & billionaire haired to step up with lots and lots of money to care for these poor souls & lots & lots of money to defend them & release make me & dads.

      • Sandra Lee on June 18, 2018 at 6:34 pm

Doing great in spite of the black hole & abyss that hovers over me— $$$ therapy & treatments. Doing a-ok in spite of it. What saved me was shunning the abusers & focusing on good people as mentors. Also below should state how those w billions should step up to care for the suffering & defend this se parents incarcerated so they can be released.

  11. Sandra Lee on June 18, 2018 at 6:36 pm

Post above not below— put our $$ where our mouth is & help where we can

  12. Cindy Belanger on June 18, 2018 at 7:05 pm

Thank goodness people are speaking out about this, the Father’s Day march organized by Beto O’Rourke, even Republicans are sickened by the separation of children from their parents. This will cause problems for these children into adulthood, they need the care of their parents and they are certainly not getting much care or compassion from HHS. It’s disgusting the blatant lies coming from Trump and Jeff Sessions. Cast your vote in November, every vote counts.

  13. Jonathan W on June 18, 2018 at 11:02 pm

It is truly, utterly awful. I must say, I am surprised it hasn’t happened earlier, or with Muslims instead of Mexicans. Since day one I told people, including family that he would do this…My grandmother always told me that he was “bringing Christ back to America” because somehow Obama got rid of him…..yet here we are. I cannot even imagine how painful it is for those children and families.

Right now, America is as Titanic was, standing nearly upright in the water, about to crack, tear, shred into two(or more) pieces. Or, as in BSG, fighting one of the last battles, her next “jump” may very well break her back, and she may never “jump” again.

Americans may soon be in the same position as many Germans shortly after the end of WW2, when they all saw the horrors of the Nazis they knew little about, or completely neglected out of denial.

  14. Sue C on June 20, 2018 at 11:02 am

This is truly evil; it reminds me of Nazi Germany. Remember the poem by Martin Niemoller, “First they came for…”? This seems to apply here. Whom will they come for next? Please contact your Senators and Representatives and vote, vote, vote!
