I Keep Saying…
This is a political post.
If interested please scroll down.
I have previously posted about how the Republican Party has lost its mind:
WE NEED TO PROTECT CHILDREN SO DON’T SAY GAY!
DRAG QUEENS ARE A DANGER TO CHILDREN!
But here are three headlines from just today:
Christian College Pastor Arrested On Child Sex Charges
CA Youth Pastor Gets 300 Years On Child Sex Charges
Prominent Catholic Youth Leader Busted For Child Sex
Since November 1st, 150 church leaders have been arrested for sexually abusing children or for having child porn.
150.
And what is the Republican Party doing to protect children from this endless abuse?
N O T H I N G
And what is the #1 cause of death for kids?
Guns.
And what is the Republican Party doing to protect children from being slaughtered?
N O T H I N G
Indeed, the Republican Party wants more guns for everybody and fewer restrictions.
In short, the Republican Party is super-focused on issues which do not exist while ignoring actual dangers to children.
If you vote Republican you are supporting violence against children.

And Texas passed a law to have preachers be guidance counselors in schools
150 sexual abuse cases to children since Nov. 1st and guns are the No. 1 killer of children. What is this world coming to? , or I should say country. But don’t tread on Republicans freedoms. What about the freedom of these children and adults to live their lives without having to worry constantly about being abused or shot. This affects children and their families for the rest of their lives. Vote Democrat!!
Dearest Ross, please don’t endanger your health by obsessing over things that are simply not true. Let’s all look at facts, not political talking points, and make our voting decisions based upon those facts.
CDC itself reports the leading cause of death in US children ages 1-14 are accidents (unintentional injuries). Homicide comes in at third, which is every form, not merely guns (where I live, it’s far more common to learn the child homicide was the result of an abusive situation and didn’t involve firearms at all).
As for child porn and child sex trafficking, it spans all political parties and all religions, plus not a few cultures. To focus on only one group to the exclusion of all the others does nothing at all to help combat the whole repulsive situation. Frankly, I see little effort to truly combat it from any political party. Words, yes. Actions? What actions? Epstein and his toadies were not alone.
Hello, Arkay.
What I wrote is correct. In 2022 guns were the leading cause of death of American children 1-18.
And you miss my point about sexual abuse. Republicans are demonizing the LGBTQ community (including drag queens) to ‘protect’ children.
This is a fake issue.
All the while Republicans ignore the real threats to kids from guns (which Republicans support) and sexual abuse by church leaders, which is rampant.
I’d be very interested in your source on the cause of death, since I saw nothing like that on the CDC website.
I didn’t miss your point. I didn’t address it at all, since I happen to agree that demonizing drag queens, et. al. isn’t going to protect children.
Sexual abuse isn’t confined to religious leaders. Blaming one political party, as if the other doesn’t have and support its own coterie of child sex abusers, doesn’t help anyone combat the whole ugly mess.
As I said, facts matter, not political posturing and salacious headlines. Both major political parties are guilty of letting child sex abusers get away with their crimes. Neither party should be rewarded with more power.
Dear Arkay,
Google: “Are guns leading cause of death for children”
And, yes, you have missed my point. You’ve actually twisted it.
I never stated that sexual abuse was confined to religious leaders.
What I stated was simple: The Republican party is going all out to demonize the LGBTQ community. As a gay man this both impacts and infuriates me.
They are doing this to “protect children”.
Hence, my calling out their lies and hypocrisy.
The Party fully embraces guns. Which is the leading cause of death for 1-18-year-olds. Democrats want sensible gun restrictions. Republicans fight against them. So, all their talk is false. By their own actions they prove that they could care less about protecting kids.
The Republicans party fully embraces religious leaders. You know, the same group that is endlessly abusing kids.
Also, these are factual rather than salacious headlines:
Christian College Pastor Arrested On Child Sex Charges
CA Youth Pastor Gets 300 Years On Child Sex Charges
Prominent Catholic Youth Leader Busted For Child Sex
Again, these headlines are just from today.
You write about both parties. But only one party is consistently harming people. The other is consistently helping people, as I’ve detailed many times.
We can all do something. Vote, Donate, and Volunteer. Donate to candidates in different states. Katie Porter is one of my favs!! Write hand written letters…..just do something.
Agreed, Jean! Porter is fabulous! And thank you.
I did not miss either of your points, Ross. It is a witch hunt mentality, designed to demonize minorities in order to coalesce a group of uninformed and bigoted people into a voting mass. It’s a tactic for obtaining power, they are not addressing real world issues such as children’s sexual abuse. In the particular case you’ve cited it’s LGBTQ they’ve targeted, but really it could be any minority group. LGBTQ is just the “demon of the day” for them. As a member of that group, I am particularly offended by their slander.
The commenter’s ‘whataboutism’ is correct about sexual abuse occurring on both sides of the aisle. However, as you stated, that wasn’t your point. It was the lack of effort to address these REAL issues, choosing instead to focus on ghost issues that don’t actually exist.
However, I would like to point out that the Democratic Party and the Republican Party react to these kinds of issues within their party in completely different ways: Senator Al Franken resigned based amid a flurry of accusations and propaganda, most of it ginned up by the faux outrage of conservative groups. If there is even a hint of impropriety by any of their representatives, they would sacrifice the limb for the health of the body.
The GOP not only allows their representatives to have checkered pasts and participate in illegal behavior, they’ve actually rallied around those criminals and fraudsters. Indeed, they supported a rapist (and at a very minimum, a p*** grabber) to represent their party and their interests. With one hand I can count the number of Republican representatives who have had the integrity to stand up for what is right, and condemn this behavior.
Finally I ask you, if you were to associate with criminals in your actual personal life – if you were to aid and abet them, cover up their crimes, support them in their schemes, participate in their extortion plans – what would that say about you as a person? What kind of moral authority do you think you actually have, for such issues as “protecting our children”?
Thank you, Paul. Well said. And, yes, Democrats have little tolerance for sexual abuse while Republicans embrace it. Republicans have, too, rallied behind pathological liar George Santos. Democrats would expel such a person. It’s sickening.
