I’ve got a full day planned tomorrow. Electric pruners, reciprocating saw and even chainsaw to get the Matilija cut down and cut up into the cans. Three cans wlll fill the green bin for collection on Friday. They didn’t get Monday off so regular schedule prevails.
I might even take down the last two branches of the Sweet Bay Laurel.
I am making cranberry sauces. Orange Bourbon Cranberry sauce and Spiced Cranberry sauce. Going to process them so they’ll keep. Also making spiced apple rings since I can’t buy them anymore.
I may or may not start the candied orange peels. I don’t have any lemons but they are next.
The list goes on but these can wait until after Thanksgiving: Marzipan, Pistachio Marzipan. Hazelnut Chocolate nougat.
I’ll be making an Apfelkuchen for Thanksgiving and then first week in December I start the Christmas baking with Stollen.
All part of my personal Project 2025-28.
So grateful for the suggestion. I am feeling great and very excited. Christmas baking and hopefully at the same time I can finally finish my little kitchen island repurposed from a small sideboard and finish off the inside of the little pantry I made in the broom closet.
Wow, the Cross House interior is looking lovely. So many delights to my eye in these photos — haven’t seen a picture of the central hall in a while it seems, and wow. The glorious entryway with the refreshed and glowing wood finish; the chandeliers and lights sparkling like jewels. The curving freshly painted green rails on sawhorses fit right in; things needing care, things getting care, things glowing from care. Not in a state of disrepair – Cross House, it seems, is in a “state of repair.” Aren’t we all?
It’s nice to see the inside of the Cross House again. I just love that woodwork. I hope the broken rail can be repaired. You are up to your elbows in rails. The big sweep balistrade will be magnificent when it’s done.
You are the throes of a bevy o rails hahahaha!
OMG. Can it be fixed?

Oh my goodness, everything sounds so delicious. I might have to look on Pinterest for the Orange Bourbon Cranberry sauce recipe. Happy baking.
I don’t do Pinterest so i can’t swear it’s there. I got it from Gimme Some Oven.

Looks like part of your project ran off the rails.
I’ll see myself out.
Hahaha please stay, Barb. 😀
The Cross House looks purty! The curved balustrade seems like it is heavy! Excellent paint done.
