Kitty Transitions

Purrmatic is to the right. That is his brother, Flash, to the left. Purrmatic is likely soon to move to Florida. While his brother got all the brains, Purrmatic is a sweet muffin.

I posted bout Miss Asia about two years ago. She was born outside and has lived her life in my fenced backyard, save a few times when she snuck into the house. This image shows my angry response to her wicked actions.

A few weeks ago she darted in the house and has made it clear that this is her new home. (Note: The yard cats have a heated winter house.) I think she, like Purrmatic, has transitioned to her late stage of life. She is here, last night. Her head is down my shoulder. She was VERY happy and purring. So was Ross. I think she will move to Florida not long after Purrmatic.

Did I miss something? Are you moving to Florida?
And thank you, they are lucky cats.

Dear Ross, I know your pain. I, too, rescue cats, and since many are in poor health, malnourished, or diseased, they don’t have a long time with us. One of our more recent rescues was Sweet Pete, who was only with us for 7 months. Yet it broke my heart when he left. Tomorrow, I have to help another leave. Snowflake is my 15 year old son’s favorite cat. He sleeps with him every night. But Snowflake has been losing weight and is now skin and bones. The vet checked him over a year ago for anything treatable, and there was nothing we could do. So I made the appointment a week ago, and tomorrow I take him in. That will leave us with an even 20 adult cats with various issues, including a spinal injury causing incontinence, FIV, chronic calicivirus, a bite history, severe food allergies, and lots that just get sick often so were not adoptable. But the pain of losing them is worth it since they bring so much joy while they are here with us. Hugs to you!

Our little shitzu, Sissy, moved to Florida this past summer. She belonged to my late brother-in-law, and had lived with us for nearly 9 years; she was the sweetest dog, and so smart. We miss her… You are a good person in so many ways Ross, but never better than when you take the time to help the smallest and most helpless creatures among us.
