WTF?

Trump tweeted this yesterday.

This is real.

Why would he do something so idiotic and childish? Because his poor feeeeeeeeeelings got hurt. Oh! Poor baby! Poor little snowflake!

His tweet was a response to North Korea’s Foreign Ministry calling Trump an “old lunatic” and a “warmonger” and the North Korean state media calling Trump a “lunatic old man.”

There have been plenty of presidents I have not liked. I even loathed one. But never in my sixty years have I been mortified by a president. Never before has the person in the White House made me feel ashamed to be an American.

And never before, never, did I fear for a nuclear holocaust.

But this is what might well happen when the man with his fingers on the nuclear codes has the emotional stability of a small child.

God help us all.

Oh, and this week Trump also said he trusted Putin more than America’s intelligence agencies.

God help us all.

.

Harper is showing how Trump thinks ALL these people, organizations, and even places are liars. But not, of course, Putin. God help us all.

His idiocy is beyond belief. I am at my wits end about what we can collectively do about him. I am equally disturbed about Pences motives. I have been voting for nearly 50 years and I have never been so frightened for our country.

We have to keep believing that America is better than this, even if our president isn’t.

    • Ross on November 12, 2017 at 9:44 am

I constantly remind myself that 80% of America did not vote for him.

  3. Carla B on November 12, 2017 at 10:17 am

Living in Kansas, it’s always comforting to be reminded there are others out there who feel like I do. Inhale…and exhale.

    • Ross on November 12, 2017 at 7:16 pm

I know a lot of people in Kansas who are appalled by Trump.

      Even some Republicans.

  4. glenn on November 12, 2017 at 12:47 pm

This will offend some, but here goes anyway – Donald Trump is a fuckin’ retard.

      The truth hurts sometimes!

  5. tiffaney jewel on November 12, 2017 at 1:19 pm

I saw this on Fark (the only place I can stand to get news anymore) and was desperately looking for the watermark on the right side to tell me that this was a parody tweet. DESPERATELY.

Republican leadership should be ashamed of themselves.

  6. Alice on November 12, 2017 at 2:30 pm

Ugh. My bar is set so low with him–if we can get through his presidency without a nuclear war I will be so pleased.

    • Ross on November 12, 2017 at 7:18 pm

      I feel the same.

And I wonder how long it will take to repair the damage to the State Department, EPA and so many agencies.

How long will it take to regain our standing in the world?

How long will decency and equal rights be violated by his judicial picks?

      Ugh, indeed, Alice.

    WTF indeed!!! This is POTUS???
Especially telling b4 11/8/2016 HRC stated “A man baited by tweet not 2 b trusted w nuclear weapons” ????????????
    See no evil…. etc
    Beyond the pale…..
I noted no POTUS fans responded— thus far— caveat emptor

How many of you remember the tv movie from the early 80s “The Day After“? I was in high school when it aired, and I have never forgot it.

    • Sandra Lee on November 12, 2017 at 8:53 pm

      I remember.

      • Mike on November 13, 2017 at 10:39 am

Sandra, I remember at the time some commentator illustrating the threat of nuclear war as two enemies standing in a room full of gasoline, boasting about who has the most matches. I guess thinking about all of this last night brought on a nightmare, but I woke up around 4:00AM today shaking like a leaf. I dreamt that I was going to lunch with my granddaughter when the US came under nuclear attack; I was trying to find somewhere I could take my angel where I could protect her, and was terrified for my other children and grandchildren. Trump would no doubt be safe, either under ground or in the air, and the only thought he would give to the innocent people dying would be to hope that it wouldn’t have a negative impact on his reelection campaign. I pray daily for this country, and long for a return to some sort of normalcy where the office of President has some semblance of dignity.

  9. Debbie on November 12, 2017 at 6:18 pm

I’m infuriated daily by that man. I hate that other countries realize what a cluster fuck he is and the effect it’s having on the US’s standing. I hate that he is trying to undo anything and everything good that Obama did. I hate that he’s gutting the EPA and has erased anything to do w/climate change from the EPA website. His picks for ANY job are the absolute worst with no qualifications what so ever for the position. And that’s just for starters. 🙂

I’m waiting for the day Mueller takes him and everybody involved w/him OUT! My extra time is spent following/reading everything that’s getting brought to light and reported through the “fake news”. I’m honestly surprised how dirty and corrupt he and his cohorts are.

    • Debbie on November 12, 2017 at 6:20 pm

BTW, you struck a raw nerve if you can’t tell!

      • glenn on November 12, 2017 at 6:46 pm

No offense, but people having been reporting on Trump and his chicanery for 40 years, particularly The Village Voice. It shouldn’t be a surprise at all.

        • Ross on November 12, 2017 at 7:14 pm

          I see it.

          You see it.

          But his followers are blind.

          • Debbie on November 12, 2017 at 9:11 pm

I think as more indictments come down you’ll see his base shrink more. Right now he’s at 35%ish. Once he goes to 30% the house/senate will abandon him in higher numbers. Some are already abandoning him now.

After the elections this week and the beating that the R’s took they know the party’s in trouble with him in power. They’re trying to push the tax bill through since high $ donors have said tax cuts or donations stop. IF they can get the bill through I expect to see them distance themselves even more. All they care about is the top 1% getting a tax cut!

They failed on healthcare and if they fail on the tax cut they’re done. CALL your senators and reps. Tell them to vote NO on the tax cuts. Luckily I’ve got Schumer on my side.

Sorry. Didn’t mean to get so long winded! [Ross: No apology necessary!]

        • Debbie on November 12, 2017 at 8:58 pm

True. I honestly hadn’t done a lot of in depth reading about 45 ( can’t call him the P word, since he’s not my P ) until sometime late last summer. Like most of us on this post I expected Hillary to win. Sigh….Anyway. 45 had way too much help from Russia that allowed him to win.

He’s so dirty and corrupt it’s not funny. Between Mueller and Schneiderman ( NY AG and they’re working together, mwahahaha ) he’ll go down. Most likely Schneiderman on RICO. State charges and he can’t pardon himself. But then we get Pence and he’s almost as dirty/corrupt as 45. So…

  10. Sandra Lee on November 12, 2017 at 8:51 pm

The EPA is now the Environmental Destruction Agency— the future for our children & grandchildren including POTUS’ children & grandchildren & everybody else’s—-disastrously jeopardized!!!

I have not listened to NPR nor PBS news hour since 11/8/2016. I read NPR transcripts & WSJ, NYT, wash Post, etc. I am clinically depressed otherwise.

Democrats or those opposed to POTUS are keeping low profile for fear of retaliation by Right-wing politicos & Trumpians.

Yay Glenn, Ross & all who were voices of reason in the midst of insanity & the death of decency I applaud all of you!

    WTF indeed!!!

  11. Sandra Lee on November 12, 2017 at 8:57 pm

Oh dear oh dear oh dear —Daniel Harper’s???
    WTF???
Defies logic & any words that come to mind !!

    • Ross on November 12, 2017 at 9:05 pm

The Daniel Harper tweet (which I show a picture of) is a devastating critique of Trump.

Harper’s tweet is sarcastic. He is saying that Trump thinks ALL these people and organizations are lying.

      But Putin tells the truth.

      It’s a brilliant tweet.

      • Sandra Lee on November 12, 2017 at 9:47 pm

Brilliant indeed! Boy am I a dope of the first order—hahaha????

  13. Jonathan Wilkerson on November 12, 2017 at 11:16 pm

I am not necessarily a religious person but these days I often think..”God save us all”

It is horrifying and appalling this happens on nearly a daily basis. And people still support him while he in fact does war monger. I also noticed he was absent from any memorial service this veterans day. Although he did release a statement, and was indeed in other countries, Around the world we saw leaders such as PM Trudeau and the elderly Queen Elizabeth accompanied by the ailing and retiring Prince Philip attending events,(Philip didn’t look that well) Trudeau was getting down and paying his respects to individual graves. One thing I could never see trump doing.

I still hope, but it is waning with inaction by the day. Those who can act sit by and let this happen so they can get their way in government, he distracts the public so they can change things to benefit them or their contributors and donors. But like I mentioned before, the bones must be broken so they can heal in the correct way, I can only hope it will be broken VERY soon. Heal quickly, and correctly.

In time, we will see what happens, by the day the investigation seems to come up with more evidence, a good chunk of the administration has been removed since the inauguration due to their filthy hands. To me, it has been Annus horribilis for the country itself. Let us hope 2018 brings new, better change. 2017 seems to be a “revenge” moment, perhaps 2018 will be a return of good.

    • glenn on November 13, 2017 at 4:17 pm

Part of the reason you have Trump is because of the religious right. It baffles this poor atheist Canadian commie.

      • Ross on November 13, 2017 at 4:50 pm

        Baffles me, too.

Trump is NOT religious and is NOT a church-goer. And everything about his life is antithetical to the teachings of Jesus.

Hillary however is a lifelong churchgoer, and can recite lines form the Bible. All her books are laced with religious teachings, and her life and work align with the teachings of Jesus.

As I recall, Hillary did receive huge support from people of faith. But not the fundamentalists. They supported Trump. What they seem to have in common are lives antithetical to the teachings of Jesus.

        • Mike on November 13, 2017 at 5:16 pm

Not all of them, Ross…and those are the ones that shock me the most. Many of my relatives are Southern Baptist, and are the finest, most upstanding people I know. They volunteer; they serve in soup kitchens, they work the food pantry; they collect coats, blankets, and clothes for the poor; they minister to the sick and the aged; they support missions, at home and abroad. And…they are totally blind to this POS. I identify as a German-American, since most of my ancestors came from there in the mid-1800s; all my life, I have wondered how one of the most advanced cultures on earth could have fallen under Hitler’s spell. I have witnessed something similar in America over the past 2 years, and I still cannot understand. I had a cousin confront me recently at an uncle’s 100th birthday celebration, going on and on how great Trump was doing. This man works with drug addicts, and has a daughter who is a missionary to South America, and there he stood with a glazed look in his eye, bragging that Trump was moving us in the right direction…I could only look at him and shake my head…

          • Ross on November 13, 2017 at 5:33 pm

I stand corrected, Mike. Thank you.

My grandmother was a fundamentalist Baptist.

She was a PROFOUND racist, incredibly judgmental, homophobic, and thought it was OK to sexually abuse me at the age of six.

So, this is my experience with fundamentalists. They preach Christ…and act the opposite.

          • Mike on November 14, 2017 at 8:43 am

Ross, I truly hate that for you. It says a lot about who you are that you were able to get through that without letting it turn you into a bitter person who can’t move on. I know people like you described; they seem to feel that God put them down here to “prejudge” their neighbors. My own dad has not spoken to me since last Christmas, when I took offense at a horrible remark he made and called him on it. His pride means more to him than I do…and he has torn our family apart. He sent word to me through my son this week that I am not welcome at the family Thanksgiving dinner next week; while my children and grandchildren are eating with my parents, I intend to be at the local ministerial alliance, serving turkey dinners to those who need a warm meal and a friendly smile. So while I said “not all” are like that, I certainly did not mean “all”…

      • Jonathan Wilkerson on November 13, 2017 at 5:13 pm

You also find many of the religious right being STAUNCHLY right wing. Anything other than the right they will not accept, and may go so far as to allow radical and extreme right to get a hold of power(many of the left are the same as well). Being pretty progressive/liberal myself, If there were left and right officials in front of me, and the right was the only honorable one, I’d be inclined to vote for them, as long as they are honorable, kind/caring, stick to what they do and say, and aren’t radical. I am baffled by those who ignore values, ethics, and chivalry just so they can keep a grip on every detail and facet of governance and society.

There are times when I wonder if religion should be slowly removed from society, then I remember what it does for society. I helps many people to better themselves, and gives others a reason to keep themselves in line and to help others without reason. Its base is to teach people to love everyone, though that is often ignored.(I myself am guilty of ignoring that at times)

But as Ross said, trump is not religious. He is far from it. The number of times I saw a news article, or some evangelist claiming he was a “man of God” I shiver at the thought.

  14. Chad on November 13, 2017 at 10:19 am

I was looking so hard for evidence that this one was a satirical account.

Then yesterday I was at a mall near my parents’ house and saw a framed front page of the New York Daily News reading “KOREAN TRUCE SIGNED!” How oddly timely.

  15. Sue C on November 13, 2017 at 11:57 pm

Agree with all you intelligent people. I live for the day that Mueller nails him. He is an embarrassment to our country and a danger to our democracy. He had his feelings hurt over Kim Jong Un calling him an old lunatic because he is one! I have been a political junkie for many years, but after the election I couldn’t watch any kind of news on TV. (I got a lot of non-fiction reading done during that time!) I was just sick. What invigorated me was the Women’s March, which I participated in in Kansas City. After that, I started watching PBS Newshour and MSNBC again. I will continue to fight and protest that orange man (not my P) as long as I am able or until he is gone.

    • Ross on November 14, 2017 at 8:23 am

      Thank you, Sue.

  16. Nathan Davis on November 14, 2017 at 11:32 am

Ugh. The best (worst) part is that it seems he only seemed to refute the “old” part. Jeez, I have nothing intelligent to contribute to this, my brain totally fried by horror as it has been for the last year now.

  17. Sharon@LaurelhurstCraftsman on November 14, 2017 at 11:04 pm

Look on the bright side, at least you don’t live on the west coast of the U.S. (like I do). It has been reported that North Korea’s nukes won’t reach past the west coast. (shrug)

    • Ross on November 14, 2017 at 11:09 pm

It’s appalling that you should even have such a worry. HUGS.

Were you worried as such during the Obama years?

      I wasn’t.

      • Sharon@LaurelhurstCraftsman on November 15, 2017 at 5:11 pm

I was never worried about nuclear annihilation during Obama’s term. Honestly, I was barely aware of politics. I felt secure under his leadership.

        • Ross on November 15, 2017 at 8:55 pm

Yes, Sharon, I know exactly how you feel.

  18. ZEE NOBLES on November 16, 2017 at 2:13 pm

Dear God! Stock market is at an all time high, unemployment is down, and businesses are expanding. I don’t know if I can stand another 3 years of this.

    • Ross on November 16, 2017 at 6:14 pm

      Hi Zee.

      Thank you for your comment.

It’s true that the economy is doing well. But no President can claim credit (or blame) for the economy in their first year in office. This is properly attributed to their predecessor. And the stock market experienced a HUGE upswing under Obama. It was just below 7,000 when he took office, and he handed Trump a market at 18,250. So, wow. Thanks, Obama!

And job growth? Again, the US experienced the longest sustained job growth EVER during the Obama years. But Trump constantly tweeted that these great numbers (and low unemployment) was fake news. Now that he is in charge? He is bragging about the very numbers he spent seven years decrying as fake.

In short, Trump is enjoying (and bragging about) an economy which Obama created.

Let’s talk about the economy in a year.
