Not a single Republican senator voted to help the America people during an unprecedented crisis.

And, remember, in 2017 the Republican-controlled Senate gleefully gave the super-rich a $1.9 trillion tax cut.

In short, Republicans were thrilled to help a tiny percentage of Americans who did not need help

…but refused to help millions upon millions of Americas desperate for help.

Remember.

Remember.

Every one of those Republican Senators wanted to block Biden’s first major piece of legislation so that in 2022, they could say that Trump got financial relief to the people and Biden didn’t.

That is the main reason they voted against it. They were all in on stimulus money direct to people when Trump suggested it.

Why would anyone expect anything different from the republicans. When they ran the senate during President Obama’s administration McConnell came right out and said they wouldn’t pass any of his agendas. They have no interest in bi-partisanship.

Bonnie, while not a single Republican signed onto the Covid Relief bill, there are Republicans voting yes on Biden’s cabinet picks, etc.

      So, there is some bi-partisanship.

      Some.

But when it comes to Democratic legislation which will help the American people (like creating new renewable energy jobs, protecting the environment, health care, and the Covid Relief bill, for example), Republicans are not interested in bi-partisanship. But, it’s actually worse than that. Much worse. As I’ve mentioned, Republicans, by their actions now for decades, DO NOT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE (unless they are really really really rich).

There is very little in the way of bipartisanship, and there has been little for years. But, I wonder if any of you have noticed that the Repubs are the first to cry “foul”, when Democrats won’t sign on to any of their bullshit. Of course, I’m from Wisconsin, where we have asshole Ron Johnson to deal with. He is one of many Repubs that has signed on to Trump’s “big lie”. When he was called out by Milwaukee’s newspaper, the Journal Sentinel to resign, he published a huge refutation full of 50-cent words, that didn’t really have much substance. There must be something in the milk in Wisconsin…..There are a few things to learn here. First, never elect a multimillionaire to office. They have no interest in helping anyone, except their bank balance. Second, if you actually think that any Repub will do anything for their constituents, well, history will make that prediction. Also, remember what state Joe McCarthy came from.

EJ, Ron Johnson is, yes, truly horrible.

Sadly, I’m pretty sure they won’t remember. Too many people drink the Fox koolaid.

Your newspaper headline is perfectly edited Ross. Republicans don’t care about helping anyone (except the very wealthy as you have mentioned), and although they call themselves the party of family values (and law and order, uh..Jan 6…), and the are generally against a woman’s right to choose, and they do not care about children after they are born! Look at school funding, food insecurity, Trump’s fiasco a the border.

Regarding your previous political post, I am still working my way through the comments. But I am a proud Democrat, in NY, and I have several Republican friends/in-laws, and I try to listen to them discuss their views. I generally don’t agree, but I am open to the dialogue.

BTW, I know you enjoy audiobooks, and you’ve probably already listened or read it, but listening to Obama read A Promised Land is like going to an intellectual spa. So beautiful and calming.

As always, thank for all you give to your community.

      Thank you, Karen.

You wrote: “Republicans don’t care about helping anyone (except the very wealthy as you have mentioned)…”

Agreed. And it’s worse than that. As I’ve said, indifference by the Republican party would actually be better than then what they practice: cruelty. It’s not possible to look at their long history and not conclude as such.

Not only do Republicans do NOTHING to help 99.9% of Americans, their policies harm people.

And, just after giving 99.9% of Americans a giant Fuck You after refusing to support the Covid Relief bill? Today, GOP senators introduced legislation to get rid of the inheritance tax, something that only applies to estates valued at over $11.7 million. In short, yet another Fuck You to 99.9% of Americans while working to give the super-rich money THEY DON’T NEED.

Oh, and I so enjoyed the audible version of Obama’s book. How refreshing to hear grace, kindness, compassion, and radiant intelligence.

Saw something interesting that republicans around me have been peddling; that the NY Representative AOC is conducting some form of fraud pocketing millions in Congress. Why do I find this ironic? She’s one of the least wealthy lawmakers in DC currently. All the republican senators who probably are happy to say the least to peddle this shit are the same millionaires who are somehow allowed to own stock WHILE IN OFFICE (remind me please why that’s legal). Some democrats, like Cuomo, I will not be bashful about criticizing, but man at least SOME of them try.

    • Kara on March 11, 2021 at 9:36 am

They are SO obsessed with her that it almost becomes funny. And she handles it so well – with just the right amount of grace meets snark. Which, of course, increases their obsession.

Remember, remember, the fifth of November…

Sorry. I hate getting involved in political convos, but I felt I should really finish your ending.

    • Ross on March 14, 2021 at 7:42 pm

      And thank you, Louise!
