Well…poo. My carefully created S-curve in the south hall failed. I am at least glad it did so before I finished painting.
I have no idea why it failed. You can see plaster keyed between the lath strips.
I had fully wetted the lath before applying the plaster.
Perhaps the plaster dried too quickly?
You may want to use Plaster Weld, which will bond old work with new. I don’t know why it failed, but this may fix your situation.
Hope that the next repair will stay in place.
Ugh, just use sheetrock. Quicker easier.
If the lathe alone won’t hold it, can you staple a wire mesh onto the lathe and key into that?
