I came across this pair online. What initially captured my special attention was how unusual the sconces were. They also looked familiar. Oh! Were they by…
…the fabulous Lightolier Company? They were! And, even better, the sconces were from Lightolier’s…
…Da-Ray Series! (This doesn’t really signify much but I do love the name!)
Upon arrival, the metal components proved to be covered with several layers of gold paint. Several layers of very badly applied paint! There were a bunch of particles in the paint and even, ick, hairs! Yikes! So, I had to strip all this down to bare brass, and then refinish the wall mount. The BRIGHT brass will soon patina.
The sconces are on the large size, and were originally intended for a commercial setting, like a bank. Today, they would fabulous in a living room or even kitchen. Or a bathroom! Yummy!
My online vintage lighting store.
What on earth is bronzol? I hope it’s a fancy name for pot metal, it’d add some class to my vocabulary!
I suspect you are correct!
And classy!
Did you see the lamps in this bank? It was posted on a facebook group I followed, these sconces would look amazing with them…
Wow! They would!
Ross, don’t you have a similar pendent listed in your e-commerce store?
Good eye!
I assume you mean this pendant?
Yes sir! It’s a shame they’re not an exact match!
