Renewing Lincrusta

In December, 2016, and after much thought…I cut an opening from the south hall into the butler’s pantry to improve access. The east “bump-out” had already been removed by the previous owner, and I carefully stored all the removed bits. In 2019, I reversed this work, realizing the error of my ways. Bad Ross!

And I even recently recreated the lost east “bump-out.” You would never know I punched an opening in this wall. A lesson about the importance of keeping all the bits.

…on a length of Lincrusta. This is necessary so Alpha can come in and restore some of the small lost bits, and properly color the infill.

Please explain what Lincrusta is
Hi, Lou.
The wainscoting is Lincrusta, a Linoleum-like product. Still made today!
Amazing work! Just gorgeous
That Lincrusta will be beautiful when it is done. It is a unique pattern.
Ross, I can’t say how jealous I am of that amazing Lincrusta! I wish they still made your pattern
That stuff is beautiful! By stripping it, you can see even more of its gorgeous detail!
Others have said it already, but it bears repeating – the lincrusta, like the trim, looks so much better without that dark stain. All the details just pop out!
An opening was made and then patched up …and returned the original lincrusta to its original location? If there were no Before pictures Ross, the wall appeared uncut. Either the work of a master sorcerer, or a master craftsman. Or both. Looking great!
