Slippers in the House
With my minivan repaired, today I returned to Kansas City to pick up the pair of slipper chairs Maria graciously held for me.
They proved LARGE, which delighted me, as small-scale furnishings get eaten by the vast scale of the vast house.

Walls unfinished still. I have the chairs placed for easy conversation. In the parlor I tend to have to crane my neck in talking with a person. My old neck objects.

They are slightly too deep for my old back. An easy fix! Kenny found the chairs. So, thanks Kenny! Thanks, Maria! SQUEE!!!!!!!!

How soon before you move your slippers into the house? Hope you will be able to move in soon.
Hi, Annie!
I think I can move in this year! I will soon be doing an update.
Yay! Yay! Yay!
I rejoice when you n mo into your majestic and wonderful home!
Good grief!
Supposed to say, “when you can move”……
Wow, they are gorgeous and perfect Ross! Beautiful. The color is so warm and welcoming in that room.
The upholstery fabric is great, and that fine workmanship matches up the edges of the pattern at the seams. That is not easy, especially with a complicated geometric pattern like that.
And your new rug and table are wonderful too. Everything works so well together.
Such a welcoming space. Enjoy! Enjoy!
You are right. The matching of the fabric is amazing!
How about a piece of marble cut to fit thr top of that radiator. ?
Oh, yes! Yes! But not right now.
The chairs are absolutely fabulous! Just marvelous!
Kudos to Kenny! Cheers!
Kudos to Maria! Cheers!
Wow! Looks like you had them custom made for that spot!!
Seconded! Love the color.
I thought the slipper chairs might look too modern, but instead, they have a timeless quality that makes them look like they were custom-made for your library.
Squee indeed!
that vignette by the windows really works! I am inspired to sit and read….. can i work on my dissertation in your library?
Wow, looks great. Those lights over the table are IT. Those chairs work so well, the colors go with the warm brightness of the walls and stained glass, and the wavy design mirrors the curves of the designs in the stained glass and the walls. The whole room looks so cozy and inviting too. Your design ideas are like David Bowie’s or Freddie Mercury’s music ideas—ideas that might sound bizarre on paper, but the final product is vivid, original, and gorgeous.
The chairs work really well. The colors compliment the wood tones and the pattern complements both the rug and the new wallpaper.
I have the same problem with furniture. Either my feet don’t touch the ground or my back can’t touch the back. For that reason I will never get rid of my current black leather sofa but work around it. It is why I also like vintage furniture as it seems to be just smaller than modern pieces. Furniture has just become so massive. I guess to fill all that open concept space in modern houses.
That is a lovely piece of glass on the large table.
I was staring at the older set of chairs in that space and was thinking that the room was overwhelming them!
Those larger chairs fit in there, holding their own! The little chairs that could! :-D)
Wheeee, van is running! Kenny found the slipper chairs! Maria kept the chairs until Ross’ arrival! Chairs look great in the layout! Library looks inviting! Ross will sooooon move in the Cross House! Wheeee!
