Thank you, Mr. President

I am 66-years old.

And Joe Biden is the best president in my lifetime. Ironically, he was sooooooooooo not on my list of preferred candidates in 2020. But, wow, has he impressed me.

Yet, surreally, none of this is obvious looking at his poll numbers. His Gallup approval is a paltry 37%. And, yesterday the New York Times published a poll showing Trump doing better than Biden.

I feel as though I am living in a wholly different reality than most people. How is this president, doing an INCREDIBLE job, being perceived so poorly by the majority?

With great frustration, I know the answer: the fucking media.

While most people believe that the mainstream media is Liberal that is not my experience. Rather, the media ignores or perverts good news about Democrats while softening or ignoring Republican horror stories.  During Obama’s first two years he and his team did a phenomenal job keeping the economy from imitating the Titanic. Oh, and they also created health care for all. Wow. Wow!

What did the media endlessly drumbeat?

WHY ISN’T THE ECONOMY DOING BETTER?

DEATH PANELS!

Thus, Democrats were trounced in 2012.

And then came 2016 where a profoundly qualified person named Hillary was running for president. As was a sexual predator. What did the media run with?

IT’S HER EMAILS!!!!!!!!

Thus, we got…Trump.

The Biden administration has been stunningly effective in helping you and me. Biden got us out of the Afghanistan mess (even Obama wasn’t brave enough to do this). Massively significant…but wholly ignored by the media…is that Team Biden destroyed the profoundly disastrous trickle-down economic policies first initiated by Reagan and, instead, reversed course to create a bottom-up economy. The recent stunning Union success are evidence of this, as just a single example. Even Obama was not brave enough to do this. (Note: I love Obama. Yet Biden has proved bolder. To my great surprise, and great delight).

The American economy is doing incredibly well. Inflation is America is one of the lowest in the world.

And what does the media run with?

HE’S TOO OLD!

TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP

For fuck’s sake.

Now, the media is abuzz with the New York Times poll. Biden is doomed! Yet, a look at history reveals a steady, predictable pattern which electoral-vote.com makes clear:

The Sky Is Usually Falling, Rinse and Repeat

In view of this weekend’s dire-for-Joe-Biden Siena poll of swing states, we’d like to climb into the DeLorean for a moment and share some headlines from way back in the olden days of 2012. Without further ado:

Five stories about dire polls:

Poll: Most see Obama losing in 2012
Harvard poll predicts Obama loss
Poll Finds Young People Skeptical of Obama’s Re-election Prospects
Obama’s disapproval rating hits new high
Poll: Romney beats Obama today

Obama’s Weakness Is a Problem for the Global Economy
The Consequences Of Obama’s Weakness

And ten stories predicting overall failure:

Much could go wrong for Obama in 2012

Throughout the 2012 cycle, particularly the doldrums before votes started to be cast, there were constant predictions of doom for Barack Obama’s reelection campaign. We checked with the staff archivist, however, and it would appear he won that election. In fact, as we understand it, he won rather handily, outpacing one Willard “Mitt” Romney 51.1% to 47.2% in the popular vote, and 332 to 206 in the electoral vote.

Send this post to everybody you know.

And, thank you, Mr. President.

I guess it all comes down to “success rate”. If any other industry had the success rate of the news media, it would be considered non-viable, and a total failure. Perhaps that is why I don’t have a TV, or a subscription to any newspaper…….

I do not like Joe Biden or Kamala Harris at all. To my surprise, I like Robert Kennedy, Jr. And I was never a fan of the Kennedys. And I like Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley. As the race for the Republican nomination narrows, it will only get more interesting. And… I think there should be a Democratic primary.

      Hi, Michael!

Back in the 1980s, Kennedy recovered from his drug years and became a fierce protector of the Hudson River. I admired him and his efforts at the time. Today, he’s just bat-shit crazy. His own family has distanced themselves.

Ramaswamy is a profound idiot. I listen to his observations and shake my head. Just today he stated that he wants to abandon America’s allies. Previously, he stated that he wants us to leave NATO and possibly the UN. I can’t see a single benefit to any of this but can envision how damaged America would be by such actions. He also made his fortune by swindling the backers of a company he created. So, he’s also a creep.

I assume Trump will be the R nominee, no matter any convictions or even if he’s jailed. However, should he die beforehand, I can see Haley getting the nomination. And while I disagree with her every position she’s not bat-shit crazy, not an idiot, and not a creep. She’s seems one of the very few Republicans actually attached to reality.

It’s ratings. There has to be conflict and a neck and neck race so they can get viewers and hits and subscribers. They have also lost their objectivity because of it. You don’t have inbiased new reporting now like we used to have 50 years ago. Too much competition in a commercial, for profit, capitalistic business.

Biden was not my number one choice either, but he has done a fantastic job. Most every time I see a picture of him I smile. He is wise and smarter than people give him credit for. I can’t understand why the media is so pro Republican, but mlaiuppa nailed it when she said it’s a race to get viewers and hits ad subscribers. And talk about being too old and senile, according to Trump with all the problems in the world right now, we’re heading for World War II. Been there, done that. I agree with you on the polls, they’re hardly ever right. I say Go, Joe Biden!!!

Unfortunately, the media has trained us, and prospers on, sensationalism ( as does our entertainment ). So, Biden, making slow but very steady progress for the vast majority of us, doesn’t get the press that tRump and the magas do, because they know how to get media attention ( thus ours ), even though it’s for lies and exaggerations. It’s not really a world of information and facts, as it is one of simply getting attention, no matter how ( and as we see on Youtube, in our neighborhoods, etc. ), shock gets eyeballs. I haven’t watched network television for 30 years and I’m always surprised and discomfitted by the shear assault on my eyes, ears, and being that is the way of commercial television in the rare moments I experience it. It’s nothing less, I think, than brainwashing on a mass and massive scale, and insidious enough that we are conditioned to it without realizing, unless we take a breather ( literally ), and rest back into our deeper wiser selves. My 2 cents….

Thank you Mr MacTaggart! I agree with all you say, I will share this and I am volunteering to work with the Democratic party to re-elect Joe Biden! They need special help with messaging! We need to win and (as Laura Nero so beautifully sang) save the country!

I love ” my Joe” ( as I like to call him).
The media loves drama, weirdos, hate, lies and moronic people…hence, Trump. Like that lying bag of Orange fluff needs any more air time.
