Just before the Atomic Age (late 1950s), there was a brief period of really cool lighting, from just after WWII, to about 1955. I have a great affection for lighting of this period, which tends to get lumped into the Mid-Century Modern category, even though it is stylistically quite different than Atomic Age lighting. Such as this circa-1950 Hollywood-Regency wonder pictured here.
l mean, how cool is this?
The fixture is by Virden, and I was thrilled to find a catalog image in my library.
