The terrifying before. Under the kitchen in the carriage house.
Today. The window at the far end was covered with plywood. The sash was gone so I simply infilled the frame with glass. The window to the far right is also covered with plywood. The restored sash will be installed this week! Which leaves the middle sash, installed today!
The middle sash has a new shellac finish. It was originally a 9-paned sash but somebody knock out all the muntins. Outside is a mess of spray foam under the porch.

What a difference a little natural light makes. Just imagine what it will look like with that third piece of plywood replaced by a window.
That space looks so much better with all the clutter gone, and with the wonderful natural light flowing in. I’m headed downstairs soon to work in my basement, and let’s hope I make as big an impact on the piles down there today.
