CH: Day 163. THE END
Drum roll, please: This is my final post on the Violation Notice work the city imposed upon me.
While often tedious tedious tedious I have mostly enjoyed the work and attendant pride and satisfaction in taking something SO battered and making it look 1,000% better. I am even proud that I…who would have believed it possible?…succumbed to reality and installed, gasp, vinyl siding on the north facade and rear. Do not tell anybody.
All the while poisoning myself with lead paint! Well, they say no good deed goes unpunished! (Note: I improved protective measures and my lead levels have been dropping.)
A year previous I was dangerously ill. So, that this massive amount of work is now done seems like a miracle to me, a powerful testament to my patented…come on, say it along with me…Baby Step Method™. Sing it! Sing it!

Today. Oh, my! I chose to do small bits in the historic colors to offer an indication to people passing by that this structure is…oh!…related to the behemoth next door. This delights me.

Today. By moving the porch to this NW corner I have recreated what was there in 1894. In 2024, I plan to add a roof over the porch, recreating what was there in 1894.

In 2021, I removed the old brick chimney leaving a hole in the roof and and soffit, and an open section of wall.
While the Violation Notice work is now satisfied, I intend to (weather permitting) continue fussing.
I do love fussing with old houses.

Fussy is good. Also rest, relaxation and enjoyment in work accomplished.
It’s New Year’s Eve. Tomorrow is New Year’s Day.
Feel free to take sometime off and enjoy your accomplishments and some time with friends.
Tuesday you can buy a new pair of baby shoes as I’m sure the old ones are quite worn out.
You accomplished so much since April, Ross. Thank you for putting it all together here.
Bravo! Bravissimo! Thank and thank you. You are the best. A dear. A smart and generous man who provides so much for so many to look forward to.
I am about the read the next two posts, The Ross and The House, but here I will wish you happiness and health in the New Year, and peace in this world.
This is the year we have much to do. I know you know what I mean.
Giant hugs to you dearest Ross.
Finally, another year of achievement. Proving once again that the trademarked Baby Step Method is extremely effective.
Well done, Ross. *hugs*
So much good accomplished through Baby Steps(TM). I’m resolving this year to take a few baby steps on my own place. There’s so much to do, but a little at a time will get me there. Thanks for all the inspiration!
