A Continuing Niche

Today, I refinished the left column, and arch.

The “oak” arch is plaster with a faux wood finish. The finish is ruined on the left side; I will have it recreated.

Above the oh-so-yummy column capitals is more faux wood finish, edged with strips of Lincrusta. I adore the Dr. Seuss-like quality of the capitals.

Yea, I love the pillar capitals, too. 💚Fiddleheads – a little stab at nouveau – the time would have been about right.
1893-’94 would have been an interesting time to build a house. The world was transitioning economically, artistically, socially & psychologically.
