A Dinner…Postponed

I turn 68 today.

Fuck.

I had invited my family of choice to dinner tonight at the Cross House, but this had to be rescheduled. So, I draped the table with a plastic tarp till March 6. I also added some art ordered for the room in 2014 (click to enlarge).

    Happy birthday Ross!
I am remodeling and am using your patented baby steps method – it really does work!!!
I hope the rest of your birthday was spent joyfully!

    Happy birthday, Ross!
You set a beautiful table and it will be a joyful celebration in a few short weeks.

I’ve enjoyed being 68 for half a year now and it’s wonderful. It’s nice to feel (relatively) young and begin to feel the wisdom of older age.

You’re a creative, beautiful soul. We in your online following adore you too, and wish you the very best.

Happy birthday! Remember age is a gift. The dinner will be even better with anticipation. Now you’ve more time to complete more baby steps to show off when your guests arrive, enjoy 🥰

Happy late birthday! Winter babies seem to always have to postpone birthday celebrations so I understand!😿

Happy birthday Ross! I like how you worded “family of choice”
Something we can all relate to.

    ✨️Happy 🎂 Birthday, Ross!✨️
I hope you kept warm & cozy 🐱 kitties can be great company when temperatures run below freezing. 🐈
As the sun’s visits are increasingly longer, your birthday celebration will simply be fashionably late. 🥂
In the meantime, you’ll be able to fuss & tweak things, to help the world become a bit more beautiful. 💜 Cheers!🍷

Happy, happy birthday, Ross! I’m late to the party, but I’m sending along warm wishes just the same. Hope the postponed party is extra joyful to make up for its delay!

    I hear you.

I turned 70 last October and it finally hit me I am old. Life has taken on more of an urgency. There is so much I still want to do and need to do.

I’m almost done with the gate (just needs lattice and some paint and I finished the first section of fence to be replaced.) Just need to rehang my First Stones and tiles and it’s done. I’ll do that today if the rain lets up.

You are lucky to have a “family” of choice. I no longer have immediate family. My closest friend is in Minnesota and will never be able to travel here for dinner. I’ve accepted I will not be entertaining any more so am starting to downsize all of my china and entertaining accoutrements. I will keep a service for six as that is all my table will fit when the leaf is pulled out. Normally it seats four. Even four would be a stretch to fill as I can’t think of anyone local I’m close enough to to invite for dinner. Parking on my street also sucks so that would be a burden on them to come to dinner.

You are very lucky to have chosen family to celebrate with. Nothing wrong with a delay. In fact, you can celebrate until March 6 with all sorts of things if you want. When I turned 70 I took myself out to dinner four times in a week and the other days got my favorite takeout or cooked my favorite dishes. A week of celebration. and I bought myself a present.

So Happy Birthday yesterday, Happy Birthday today and Happy Birthday every day until March 6.

And if I haven’t mentioned it lately I LOVE that chandelier in the dining room.

    Happy Happy Birthday, Ross!!
My mantra is – 68 is definitely great!! – I also just turned 68 on Feb.9th/25, so you’re in good company, my friend.
Many years ago now my Dad dropped dead of a massive heart attack when he was only 61, which shocked us all and broke all our hearts – so – I am so thankful to be 68! Yes, I get tired more easily now and like you, can’t marathon like I used to be able to – but – WTF – we’re still here and mostly healthy – so – YAY!
