A Mid-Century Colonial

When we think mid-century we normally add the word modern. But traditional styling was still very popular in the 1950s and 1960s, and the majority of homes built during this era were traditional in style.
Hence, this gorgeous chandelier:

At first, I wasn’t sure of its age. 1920s? 30s? 40s? 50s? Well, the flat ceiling canopy actually dates the fixture, as you don’t really see flat canopies until the 1950s.

The wheel-cut glass shades are spectacular, with flowers and leaves CUT into the glass. I also like how the frosted horizontal lines are repeated in the brass.

My chandelier is from 1963 (yr house built) but not as pretty as this one! 🙂
