Late today, a political nuclear bomb went off.
A new poll in Iowa, from the gold standard of Pollsters, Selzer, has Harris leading Trump.
Yep, Iowa. A state Trump carried twice.
In September, Selzer had very different numbers:

SEPTEMBER: Trump 47%; Harris 43%
OCTOBER: Trump 44%; Harris 47%.
In one month the numbers flipped.
And what is driving this sea change?
Women.
This should surprise no one. For, Republicans have made it 100% clear that they want to return women to the 1950s.
The problem?
Women have made it clear that they won’t go back.
Kansas made this obvious in 2022 when it shocked the nation by overwhelmingly voting to protect the bodies of women from politicians, with 60% saying NO. Or, as I like to think: with 60% saying FUCK OFF.
I predict that the Selzer poll will be the #1 news item for the next few days. For, it is perhaps a bellwether for the nation, and every state which “leans Red” might just tip Blue on Tuesday, giving Harris/Walz a blowout on Tuesday. Even, perhaps, in Kansas, where a recent poll had Trump up just 5 points. One would expect him to be up vastly more in Kansas, right? In 2020, Trump beat Biden in 2020 by 14.6 points. But, as the 2022 vote in the state showed, women are not going back.

I’m confident Harris will win. What bothers me is the probability of the Big Lie 2.0. . . Maybe we’ll get lucky and former guy will flee the country.
Oh, Kate. I think the Big Lie 2.0 is a certainty if Trump loses.
His ego will NOT allow a second loss.
Sadly yes, most especially if the election is close – he’ll create chaos to question the results just as he did before but with more interference from MAGA controlled counties trying to refuse the certify results and stuff like that. They want to shift results to the corrupted Supreme Court, of course.
If the results should end up being a landslide in Harris’s favor with no great possibility of taking results into court, there’s some possibility he’ll flee to avoid the consequences of his 4 pending cases.
I have an astrologer acquaintance who thinks he sees astrological indications that Donald may end up incarcerated sooner rather than later, due to being remanded for crimes committed that violate the terms of his current release.
Crossing my fingers and keeping the faith as I sit completely horrified that we are here at all Ross.
Yes! I saw this yesterday. Women, Republicans like Liz Cheney, and young people will save us. We need a blue tsunami and a blue House and Senate. Then we – maybe – can send these maga-rats back to the hole they crawled out of (or better yet educate them).
On Friday, I canvassed again. Two more days…..
We’ve been campaigning since late July, non-stop, every evening. We hit 500 miles of walking every single street in our city. Quite a feat and something I never thought I’d be doing.
Out of thousands of doors, only about 30 have given us a wave off, or a “I’m not interested”, etc. interesting statistic…..EVERY SINGLE PERSON who came to the door disgruntled, curmudgeonly, angry, scared (they’d hide behind the door, screen, or curtain), mad or pissed off, was a REPUGLICAN! Every single one! Not once, mind you, not once did a Dem or Independent act that way.
It has been truly astounding to see this. There’s no doubt they act this way because all they hear from FAUX news is their world is ending. There’s a boogie man around every corner, there’s billions of illegals among them, and the list goes on and on. There’s the GOP, TRUMPERS, and Republicans that know better and have sowed the seeds of hate, division and simply to be afraid of everything, everyone, and even their own shadows for the last couple decades.
I really felt sorry for them and we discussed the differences between them and everyone else who were joyful, happy, smiling, engaging, etc. Stark and disturbing. They’re lost and missing out on life in general.
Allowing blatant misinformation and lies in print, radio, and TV should not be allowed, first amendment or not. You should be allowed to say whatever you want to anyone in person, but to allow people to print or publish or disseminate over the airwaves. Absolute lies and falsehoods should actually be a law or added to the first amendment. The first amendment was designed to protect people from being punished by the government for speaking out against the government. But the United States has fetishized the first amendment. Several European countries do not allow politicians to lie. If they do, they’re thrown off the ballot. You can paint your opponent is not qualified by stating facts, but you should not be able to simply make up things. I believe the majority of Americans would feel the same way.
I agree. The media should not be able to lie and get away with it. I quit watching CNN because they had Republicans on (in an effort to be “balanced”), and they did not challenge the Republican lies. I just talked to my anxious son in Minnesota. I’ve been campaigning, too, as well as reading social media comments. I’ve never heard one Democrat say anything nasty, but a lot of the maga-rats have. Thanks for all the work you have done to elect Harris.

US definitely needs far more laws regarding candidate status and behavior, length of campaign and so on. Donald should never have been a qualified candidate in the first place, not now, nor in 2020 or 2016. Plus he was always too compromised to have a high security clearance. It’s truly shocking how this situation has been left to solve by the will of voters.

I think the pollsters and pundits figured there was so much early voting that the last week before the election wouldn’t matter. But it is the undecideds that wait until the last minute. And what happened at the last minute? Floating islands of garbage and an implied firing squad. It’s turning people off, or I should say away from Trump and motivating them to get off the fence and vote for Harris.
Then there are the women. I love that ad Julia Roberts narrates. Yes, we have secret ballot and in the voting booth, no one sees who you voted for. With the high turnout in women voters I think they are doing exactly that. Voting for Harris and if necessary lying to their husbands.
I have friends in Iowa. They vote blue. They’ve told me they’ve been working hard in Iowa to turn it blue. This year they may have succeeded.
