The tower, once again, has a huge sheet of curved glass on its first floor big window. You can imagine my…great excitement. I am in shock, too. Is it REALLY done? Really? Do you see it, too?

Squee-a-licious!!!!! Oh Ross, your house is so incredible, I live vicariously through you and your restoration. What a wonderful gift you are giving to the Cross House – bringing it alive again. I know it appreciates your hard work!!!
That looks wonderful. The play of light over the facade makes all those months of worry and hard work so worthwhile, I’m sure. In these days of random madness and restrictions, this gives so many a sense of pleasure.

Now the eye of the first floor is open to the world. That plastic made it look like the house had a cataract and its sight was colouded and blurry. You put in the right new lense and there is clear vision once again.
In fact, the whole house has had the “Ross Special” spa treatment for the last six years. Now it is time for that grand dame to strut her stuff. She looks like she stands a little taller, a little straighter, and certainly a lot more colorful and zesty. You have lovingly and patiently touched every part of her and caressed her back to life.
Of course there’s still some exterior and interior work to do. In fact, I doubt that she’ll ever be completely finished. But she’s better now than she has been in a long long time. And it’s because someone (YOU) could see her value and her beauty despite her wretched broken down-ness. Before you came along, she was doing the best she could on her own. But you Ross, with your vision, perseverance, and determination, (and buckets of moolah) have proven that it is possible to bring something back from the almost dead. (Insert “He’s only mostly dead” gif from [Princess Bride?])
I just really love the lesson in the whole story. What if we gave everyone and everything the benefit of the doubt that they are doing the best they can and with a little love, patience, persistence, and grace, they can come back to life and be changed for the better. Your house and the metaphor that it stands for are a good lesson for me today. Thank you for sharing your journey. It certainly is helping me on mine.

I’m so happy! Congratulations. Some accomplishments are baby steps, but this one feels like a Big Step. Can’t wait to see it in person the next time I drive by.
