A Zounding Beauty!

There are two glass shades. The lower, acorn-shaped shade has a white finish on its lower section, and is clear glass on top. The upper shade is very wide (a whopping 17-inches) and almost flat. This is a milk-type glass. You can imagine how hard it is to find this fixture with both its shades intact.

I have previously offered this simple version. Also stunning but nothing compared to the “imperial” version!
I am uncertain how old the fixture is. Circa-1915?
It would have originally been used in a commercial setting like a bank. Today, it would be a knockout in a kitchen.

Ross, you are correct at c1915 – these fixtures are pretty much entirely related to the introduction of the Mazda C lamp – the first commercial gas-filled bulb – that could burn more efficiently and greatly increased light output. These became widely adopted in 1914/1915 and the opal or white glass “schoolhouse” style fixture was born from it.
Cool! Thank you, Bo!
Interesting tidbit, Bo. Lovely restoratuon, Ross.
