While installing the water table trim Justin discovered a part of a horse harness inside the stud wall. I am gobsmacked that this bit of history has been hidden for well over a century. I will have the artifact set in a shadowbox frame and then placed in the house.
That is so insanely cool- little relics like that are so fun and interesting. How would that have gotten inside a stud wall though? Would the walls have originally been completely unplastered and so it sat there even before the wall was patched up with lath?
Kewl!
Wow! That is an amazing find!

From the Carriage House – perhaps before it was moved and rotated? So very cool.
Thus is so awesome!
What a marvelous relic from the time when the Carriage House stored carriages & stabled the horses!
What a perfect way to honor the history of the house. You were so lucky this was found.
Love history!! So awesome.
Love that you could rescue and reuse this bit of history.
So cool! It will be amazing in a shadow box. Lucky, perfect, and appropriate.
