Announcing My 2015 Project
In my previous post, I was, perhaps, not entirely serious.
In today’s post I will try to conjure some sober maturity.
All my previous posts have focused on the west facade. My 2015 project is to get the north facade painted all pretty. And do repairs. And tuck-point the chimney.
Both facades are highly visible, as the house is on a prominent corner:

North. Scary big. Scary tall. It will be interesting to see what kind of scaffolding I devise to reach the third level. My knees are already shakin’.

The triple stained-glass windows on the second-floor have since been removed in preparation of their being restored. Most of the stained-glass will be restored during the next 18 months. VBW!!!!! (Very big whoee!) The north porch roof is not level; it soon will be. See the round stained-glass window? It lights the telephone closet. I brag about this feature often. Yes, I know, I shouldn’t. But having a telephone closet is so cool than I cannot help myself. I mean, could you?

One would think that I knew every inch of the house by now. But I keep being surprised, like with this incredible detailing in the gable end of the north porch. I had no idea it was there.
There will be a lot of work going on at the house in 2015, but most of this will be by roofers and plumbers and carpenters and refinishers and stained-glass restorers, etc. The north facade however is my project. While I would like nothing better than to spend all my time working on the house, my time is limited due to my business. Sigh. Sigh.
Sigh.
Well, it will be fun revisiting these images by the end of 2015 to see how much I accomplished.
Let the work begin!

You have bragging rights to SO MUCH MORE than a telephone closet.
Go Ross GO! Can’t wait to see all that hard work pay off. Your house is becoming so very beautiful — again.
Hey Ross, what shingles did you select. What did the tile company tell you? Did you make any decisions about the interior and exterior spindles for the house?
Hi Ken!
Rustic slate!
FINALLY received a quote from the tile company. I plan to proceed.
Will be ordering exterior spindles. Will delay interior spindles because I am uncertain if the company can match the distinctive grain pattern obvious on the originals.
It is impressive that you have remembered all this minutia!
Sorry what did the company tell you about the tile.
I will soon be doing a tile update!
Thanks Ross for the update.
I wish I had a telephone closet. I think every house should have one – especially in the age of smart phones. I would love to show a guest who simply HAD to take a call, to a lovely phone closet. For truly boorish guests, it would have a lock on the outside. 🙂
LOVE this.
LOL Andrew! I totally agree! G:-)
You have a telephone closet! With a round stained glass window!
This is the height of greatness, I tell you!
Yes, it’s way cool, zhera!
I look forward to the closet being restored!
