Baby Steppin’. Quietly.

The weather forced me back inside and I have spent the last week very much enjoying fussing with the library.

Mostly, I have been doing the final touch-ups on the ceiling. I have also been stenciling the frieze medallions. These are now done save on the north wall.

Today, I emptied the shelving island of books:

.

Tomorrow, I will remove the island. It will be replaced by the fabulous Henredon table I purchased a few months ago.

.

Under the table I will create new shelving, painted black.

These past weeks have been very enjoyable. I am feeling soooooooo much better than I did a few months ago. The work is easy, and fun, and made all the more pleasant by audible books.

For 8+ years now, I look forward to my Cross House afternoons. These hours mean that every week the house is better than it was. Every week. And these hours mean that something is just a bit better in the world.

I find this highly satisfying and energizing. For a few hours every day my worries fall away while I focus on making something old and damaged…but wonderful…better.

Ross happy.

If you haven’t done the under table shelving yet….consider making something modular and on wheels. So it can be easily wheeled out from under in sections for cleaning and rearranging and access of books.
