Best post ever. Pretty much says it all.
Wow, Ross!!! You are Superman! I am so happy that you are working your magic on this beauty of a mansion.
So lovely, you must be so proud of all the work you’ve done. Those baby steps really work.
This house legitimately makes me tear up every time I see it. To date, this is my favorite preservation blog I have ever found, and I can’t wait to keep telling everyone who will listen about it. Also, ross, PLEASE make this house an instagram page! The old house community there is so vast, and thousands more people undoubtedly await to see the magnificent gem that is the Cross house there.
Beautiful Lady Glowing 🙂
Congratulations! I’m in awe of your dedication and tenacity. The world is a better place because if people like you. w
The Cross House looks like an elegant lady in 2021 instead of a white elephant. Those colors really complement the house.
I’m really excited to see the porch lattice and the remainder of the railings come back this year. That will really be the icing on a very large cake.
Under your stewardship, she’s looking better than she has in probably 70 years. That’s something to be proud of.
Thank you, Cody.
My goal all alone has been to bring the house back to basically As New condition. When I’m done, I hope the house will look as good as it did in the 1890s.
70-years ago, the house was already 60-years-old, and in a deteriorated condition. And, it was painted white!
The grand old lady is looking even more grand! Bravo Ross! The Kansas Historical Society chose very well when they selected you (twice, because the Cross House was severely damaged) to be the recipient of the Heritage Trust Fund. Here’s hoping that they select you once again on the next application.
Wow! Wow! Wow!! So beautiful now! Thank you for sharing your journey with us!
In 1999, she just looked…sad. Defeated…ready to give up. Now, she looks proud, beautiful, and happy again, all thanks to you.
Fabulous!
Beautiful!
