I’ve had this very sad-looking 1930s fixture in storage for like 18 years.
I wondered, under all the obvious dirt and niccotine, what the original color was? After removing a star, my question had a definitive answer.
I also have a similar 3-bulb version but it was missing the decorative ring which goes above the finial. My thought all these years was that I would find a matching ring. But the other day I looked at the forlorn 5-bulb and thought: Screw this! Bring life back to this pitiful thing after all these years!
So, I waved my magic wand. Wanna see a miracle?

AFTER. I gasp! Gasp!
Restoring the original ivory color, and polishing the brass bits was a no-brainer. But what about the socket rings? There was no evidence as to their original color. Their finish was now just light rust. I pondered several options. But when I woke from a nap, the color choice seemed obvious.
