Before. After.

Recently, Bob, who used to own the Cross House, texted me about numerous boxes of lights he had stored away for like 30 years. Did I want them? Free? I passed on the first 3 boxes, all which look like 1980s and 1990s junk fixtures. But box #4 captured my special attention. At top looked like a 1950s kitchen pendant (look close). Below that looked like a 1930s kitchen light. Then a 1960s porch light. Then a schoolhouse shade. I asked if Bob could drop off this box. Wanna see Light #1 reborn? Be prepared to gasp.

Golly.

The shade and canopy are aluminum. I could not get them to look good. So, Dr. Doug took the poor dears in hand and polished them. Ross happy.

Brilliant. Who knew looking in that box that such a dirty thing would clean up so beautifully.

I want to see the results of your magic on that 30s kitchen light.

Now me? I would have just taken the lot and gone through all of the boxes just in case there was a piece in one that belonged to another, something hidden or just to fix and donate to Habitat for Humanity or something. There are people that want light fixtures from the 70s, 80s, 90s even if they weren’t the best. I hate to see anything go to the landfill.

Glorious is right! Some lucky person will get a fabulous fixture when they purchase it.
