Before. And a Golly After.

BEFORE.

AFTER. Golly.

Golly.

Golly.

Golly.

Today I painted the lattice. It needs some touching-up still, and a thin black trim is going to be installed around the perimeter of the lattice.

I also did a gloss finish on the column.

And the never-ending door was finished. Squee!!!!!!!!

I still have some other details to finish up, including doing SOMETHING with the cobbled-together downspout!

But…golly.

Ok, now that the north face is done, and it’s getting dark earlier, PLEASE take a sunset exterior picture with the interior lights on. Seeing the stained glass shimmering in the twilight would be extraordinary….

It looks absolutely beautiful, Ross! It’s great to see the before pictures too. It’s a reminder of all your hard work and how much you have accomplished!

The change is phenomenal! It IS quite lovely, Ross. I think a little mascara above the round windows will make them just POP! Maybe some black on the middle rounded detail?

Christine you are right! A little touch of black would be lovely! What do u think Ross? Also I reread about the downspout being cobbled together & it just made me laugh. What a hoot! I was so focused on the other lovely things,

    Hello Ross!

Have you decided what to do with your downspout? I have the same issue but my downspout is missing.

I remember an earlier post you made about the cistern in the back. There may be a buried clay pipe that moved the water from that downspout to the cistern where it would be stored. Have you considered restoring the cistern system? Free water for irrigating the lawn!

Half of my system was destroyed when a previous owner removed a lot of soil from the back foundation of the house to make it a walk-in basement. However, the north side of the house still has functioning clay pipes that channel the downspouts on that side of the house to the cistern. Since I reconnected the downspouts, my cistern has been filling up again! Free irrigation water!

I just showed my husband this bottom picture in comparison to a picture in an earlier post of the house in 1999. He saw the chimney in the 1999 pic, thought it was a tree and said, “Oh my god why would you let it get like that!”

“It’s the chimney, sweetie,” was my response.

He is blown away at the difference between the pictures. As am I, as is everyone who reads this blog!
