Bella Settles In

Last year, I wrote about Bella here.

She had needed a new home and, thus, came into my life.

It was instantly evident that Bella had been a lap cat. She was obsessively on my desk as I worked, wanting to be against me, but stepping on the keyboard (EEK!), knocking over my cocktail (FUCK!), and, well, freaking me out.

This was untenable. So, I trained her to fear my desktop. Was she happy? No.

Months passed and she would sit on the floor looking at me balefully. I would reply: “No, you’re not getting on my desk!”

She then decided to sleep on the credenza behind my office chair and this seemed to work out. Whenever I would get up I would give her lots of pet pets.

Recently though she figured out that she could nudge into a narrow space between my belly and the front of the desk.

This seems to work for us both.

Being a dog person I don’t know much about cat body language.

But based on that photo she doesn’t seem to be all that comfortable.

I can assure you, Mary, that she was quite cozy. She was doing battle with my hand. She loves doing that.
