CH: Day 10
Today something…unexpected happened when I went to install the much anticipated small window.
Scroll down…
Today though when I went to the basement workroom in the Cross House to get the frame and sash, I noticed for the first time that the frame exactly matched the frame/sash I restored last year, which I removed in 2014 from the ‘shed’ addition off the carriage house kitchen. This window had a diamond-paned sash. I had planned to re-install this fancy window in the new full bathroom on the first floor.
However, with today’s realization that the size of both frames was the same, I thought: Golly! What if I switch them, moving the fancy window to the main facade?
And this idea seemed, well, friggin’ brilliant.

Brilliant! Instant window!
Love it!
Ross, I was hoping that you would reconsider changing the white paint designated for the Carriage House to the same colors as the Cross House. Why not just paint it once? Twice as much work for a “66 year old man” ( quoting you) because I doubt that you will slap it on!!!! Just my thoughts, however, I know you well enough to know that Ross is gonna do what Ross wants to !!! Lol
Yes, absolutely. That diamond-paned window is more an entrance window than a bathroom window. And now you have a restored window for the bathroom too, when you get around to it.
Yes! Brilliant as usual!
Whoa – that’s a snazzy little earring! 💖 The widespread diamond seems a comfortable fit for the main floor. Dimensionally, it appears more relaxed than the tighter diamond pattern on the upper floor windows. It’s as if it belongs here. 🌻
If I’m remembering correctly, that wall faces west. Which means that diamond-paned window will fill the Carriage House with beautiful pools of light every evening at sunset. It’s a brilliant idea, literally! Can’t wait to see it in place from the inside!
I love it!
