CH: Day 145

Today. Note the wood trim around the window and above the vinyl. After putting on a Tyvek suit and other precautions I went to work…brave man that I am…scraping off curling lead paint and then applying primer. I did not…oh, the horror…scrape down to bare wood. Sigh. Sigh. Sigh. But, what I want, and what needs to be done, are occasionally at odds. In this instance the latter won. Note: I will be painting the trim above the door in the historic green.

Oooh, NICE, good progress.
Ross, does that mean you have almost completed the code violations?
That does mean that, Mark. After the north kitchen wall is done, I need to repair the chimney work on the east side. Then, the Violation Notice work will be done. So, about two more weeks!
Yay! And a very happy new year in which you get to decide what work needs to be done.
Whatever on earth will you DO once the violation work is done?
Like, at that point you’ll have the option of choosing work you actually *want* to do again.
Any fun interior winter projects planned?
Also, I’m belatedly kind of remembering bits about the Rodak’s time with the two properties – weren’t they forced to leave the big house and move next door due to lead poisoning from removing paint from the exterior, just like what you’ve been experiencing this year?
Hi, Cody!
I previously posted about my plans.
Love these updates.
Is the glass in the back door beveled? Would it fit into the front door?
Thank you, W.
Yes.
No.
Hey there Ross! I have been following along but somehow I have missed the bit about that second story door to nowhere. I have one too! When was that put in and what was the purpose and more importantly, what is your plan for it in the future? Just curious!
Ooh. It’s looking so good! Really happy to see all this progress — and I bet you are, too.
Have you ever posted a photo of the south side of the Carriage House? I can’t remember if I’ve ever seen that side of the house. I’ve seen the south side of the Cross House many times — it’s spectacular! But the south side of the Carriage House is just a blank to me.
So glad you are making such great progress Ross. It’s looking great.
