CH: Day 160

Today. Mess be gone. I will soon fix the left vertical trim which has some rot at the bottom. And those are not ghost orbs; it was snowing
And…drum roll, please…I have made a decision! I have long pondered replacing the upper door (a non-original change made when the Carriage House was converted into 3 apartments) with a window or with shingles.
Today it popped into my slow head that I could replace the ugly door with a beveled glass door matching the kitchen door. Gadzooks! I could then create a Juliet balcony. This would offer:
- The least amount of work.
- A cool feature.
So, the hunt begins for a 30W x 78.5H beveled glass door.

Least amount of work is good. Cool feature is good. Plus….added light from that beveled glass door. I am sure you will find one, or rather one will find you. The Cross House seems to draw the perfect thing to it just as it is needed.
The house does have its own mystical pull. The universe listens and the house receives!
The door plan sounds great, Ross.
I’d forgotten (if I ever knew) that at one point the carriage house had been converted to three apartments. I’d love to see a floor plan of that sometime to see how it was cut up, and now restored to one glorious space.
Hi, Brian!
In the foyer, a wall and new door was inserted into the wide opening, and the south end of the foyer was walled off. This created privacy for a first-floor apartment.
The second-floor became another apartment, and they also used the front door, and then the staircase. In the rear was another door (the one in question) which had a metal staircase.
In the basement was small studio apartment.
Ah, yes! I forgot about the “very creepy you-just-know-Norman-Bates-lived-here studio apartment in the basement of the carriage house.”
Orbs! Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come!
Juliette balcony? Excellent solution to the current 2nd floor door!
Repairs are looking good too, Ross! Wheeeee
And, bonus!, a lovely little “porch roof” for the bottom door! Love it!
I am so excited by this decision to add a small balcony & beveled door!
