CH: Day 59

Red scaffolding is gone! And a new mini-deck is to the left. This is my unexpected solution to the red scaffolding being too high. Now, I can easily finish the siding above the large window. (The ‘hall’ between the scaffolding decks allows access to the window which is the temporary entry.)

The first full view of the west front with the entry gone and the large window in place under the turret.

Did the turret originally have support columns similar to the Cross House or was it designed to be cantilevered?
I am eager to see the large window and front door in place, the work you do is amazing.
I can’t wait to see the right side painted!
Oh, boy. A few more little baby steps™ and it will be step one done. Maybe a day to finish the siding, a day to prep with the linseed oil and a day to prime. End of the week maybe?
Then there are so many choices.
Relocate the front door, remove the deck, paint some more….
We’re going to have 90s from Wednesday through Saturday but lucky for me I got the peach tree in so I can back off of the yard work for a while. If worse comes to worse, I can retreat to the bedroom where the AC is. But I’m hoping to just do stuff in the shade. Today and tomorrow the push is on to get a few more things done before the heat drives me back.
Yes, I am a wimp compared to what you are working in. I think you are doing an amazing job doing as much as you are doing under the conditions you are working in. Every day it looks more and more amazing. I am so excited for the time when the shade tarp finally comes down.
It’s like a new episode of a favorite TV show every day. Only I can’t go online and check the episode guide or read spoilers.
You remember when I used to “call” the sewing room as my “rental” in da’ big house???🤔🤔
I think I call the carriage house now!!😃
Only problem is that they aren’t in Wisconsin. Illinois is too damned hot for me as it is…I can’t imagine the Kansas heat, darn it!
You know what they say…..If you can’t take the heat….😵
